Fall of 2017 on my 06 Frontier, V6, 6 Speed Trans, 4X4 and Im stuck in the Palmdale Post Office parking lot near home. Saw that same round plastic with the hole in it, same place on the floor. I asked over the phone and Nissan said 15. 00. I said I only need one, he said 15. 00! I said, I'll try to get the truck over there saying that with my finger's crossed. Called the local Naper, went there and for 5. 00, I bought 6 of the best plastic parts to fit nice and tight in that hole. Over 1 year with that first one from Napa. Got the rest in the center console storage/arm rest for JUSTIN sake. (JUST IN CASE.

I called Nissan about my problem starting and I suggested that it might be the switch. The service manager never said squat about this rubber stopper. He wanted me to bring the truck in so they could put it on the machine. Asshole. After watching this video I went out and found the stopper lying on the floor mat, in pieces. The spare is also busted so I'll have to contact Nissan to get the right part. Thanks for the great video!

My 06 V6 Frontier had the same problem at the Post Office in Palmdale near home earlier this year. Being familiar with it already, I pushed in on the switch, reached over and turned key, off we went. What a shock! 12. 00 for chunk of plastic! Well I went to Naper, and for 6. 00 got a bag (of 6) of the plastic Xmas trees. Still using the first one. I'll just change them when needed. Great Video!

D21 series was always the blue starter interlock relay under the hood, so it seemed. Used to keep a new relay in my toolbox. When a no crank rolled in, first thing I did was disconnect the old relay and connect the new one. Truck starts, sell relay and 1/2 hour labor for a 3 minute fix 9 out of 10 times. Otherwise, troubleshoot as usual, usually the starter. Those were the days.

I tend to think that nissan has piss poor ethics instead of piss poor engineering. Why? Because they know that a great many people take their vehicles to the stealership for any and all issues. Id have run a nylon screw through the hole, nutted the other side and been done with it if it were a customers vehicle. Were it mine, Id have eliminated the switch altogether.

I am trying to change the starter on a 2002 Nissan Frontier XE (2001-2004) body style 2. 4 L 4-Cylinder. The access to the starter is next to impossible and I wondered if you have changed a starter on this model. I have replaced several starters over the years, but I have never seen one with this type of access difficulty.

15 bucks! Oh man! What the hell's the purpose of the hole? I'd fill the hole with epoxy or a nut/bolt and call it a day. Never have to worry about it again. Thanks for the video. Now that I think a bit, I'd jumper the switch all together, take it right out of the loop. Safety switch my butt!

Thank you! I replaced my starter, battery, ignition relay, multiple fuses including 80a, had to wait months for some parts to come across the world only to find your video and see that for want of a piece of plastic, I was left hoofin' it.

Just had this same exact part fail on my brand new, 2019 Frontier. You are correct, this is a very poorly designed part of the clutch. Thanks so much for sharing this information! If this happens to me again, now I will know what to do!

Okay I have a question what if I put my thumb on it and pushed it in and nothing happened do you think it's the switch itself because the rubber thing that you just replaced is flat on both sides. It's not a hard plastic it's rubber.
