Miyeokguk is a soup made of edible seaweed and is traditionally eaten on birthdays or after giving birth, although you can eat anytime you like. Cara: Maangchi i love that you added a little story while cooking, its so touching that i watched twice. As a new immigrant I can feel how touching you were when someone treated you so kind at while adapting the culture. I wish you well and your soup and story warmed my blue heart tonight. I will make the soup this weekend eat like you

Wow! That's interesting! In hmong culture after a woman gives birth, they have to eat freshly killed chicken(with hmong herbs i think) for a month. My grandmother always flew over here to cook it when my mom had my siblings. I remember having to help pluck the chicken feathers when my last sibling was born haha

That miyeok guk looks rich. I do see that dried seaweed in Korean grocery stores, didn t expect it to expand that much. Gonna try making the soup, as well as the side dish version.

My husband has the same Carhartt beanie, he's actually got about 5 different colors. We only do Carhartt for the cold. Stay warm! Yum yum
