For the first conversation, Ronnie could have bigger quads if he did XYZ, how does something like inherent human limitations on muscle growth contribute to that statement
For instance, consider a normal person who isn't taking any gear. We have an understanding that this person has a genetic limit on how much muscle they can grow, and for the sake of simplicity let's assume that limit is on a muscle-to-muscle basis. Are we to believe that this natural bodybuilder must have optimal training in order to reach this limit, or is good enough training. good enough The optimal training will get them there faster, for sure, but is optimality the only route
Now consider a person on gear. I would presume it would be a similar set of circumstances, but the upper limits on muscle growth are higher. When we look at these top level mass monsters like Ronnie, are they still even making size gains on their best muscle groups or have they already maxed them out Most people on gear aren't anywhere near their unnatural limit, their diet, lifestyle, training, and total amount of time growing is not even close to being optimized, it's not even good enough to get close to their limits. But those aren't the Ronnie Colemans and the Jay Cutlers and the Markus Ruhls of the world, those guys seem to be pretty close to their limits or else someone would have significantly surpassed them by now.

23: 30 I feel like a lot of the arguments made by Jeff and Mike against cold plunge are strawman even if unintentionally. There are legitimate studies on things like fat composition, mid singulate cortex development, endocrinology effects and more that have nothing to do with just recovery or just mental toughness. Jeff and Mike seem to assume this purpose of toughness and recovery, and to be fair that’s what a lot of the hype was around when it came to people who didn’t actually take the time to go through the literature. There’s also a host of attested effects that haven’t been able to be studied due to difficulty to design or find funding of studies. If we always wait for science, you’ll never discover anything new

Question for all the people. While you’re working out are you constantly engaging your core I dont know if its because im weak at the core but i find it very difficult and exhausting to keep my core engaged while doing various lifts and i feel i lose the muscle mind connection if i do so. I want to lift as safe as possible but want to get stronger as well by lifting in the 6-10 rep range. Let me know what you think please and thank you.

Cold exposure (for me) triggers the release of histamine (called cold urticaria. It's a skin reaction to cold that appears within minutes after cold exposure. The affected skin develops itchy welts (hives. It's really not fun and I hate walking to the gym during winter (Montreal, Canada) as the skin over my quads will get red and itchy and swell up making it very hard to do a leg day.

I definietly dont agree with the ronnie coleman take. He progressively overload all his exercices to such an extreme level dont people wouldnt even dream of touching. He would maybe have less injuries but he definitely wouldnt be bigger because he get so strong that the perfect form doesnt matter at that point

Mike mentions your sodium intake being under control at 25: 38. How much does under control refer to Are there some general guidelines for how much sodium is too much or too little per day I haven’t been able to find much about it. Thanks: )

if there is a limit for how much muscle one can get isnt it irrelevant how you train as long as you train long enough therefore if you train 15 years wouldn't technique be Ireland and thats why all big bodybuilders still are big even with bad technique

I really enjoy some exercises where i can get that squeeze. I like to hold it for a second or two. I don't really care if it works better, it just feels good. The cable fly comes to mind. Crossing the arms really makes it.

I love Jeff, but I thing I will never agree with is his cold exposure take! He is clearly biased and has never done it properly. It might not be good for hypertrophy but for overall mental a physical health it is amazing!

If we knew all these things you cant know about Ronnie we can say I'm right and hes wrong. God Mike is such a clown. Also talking about MRV without any respect to absolute or relative intensity is just mornonic.

I really enjoyed this discussion. Great points from both dr. Mike and Jeff, pointing out different perspective and positives and negatives, this is the type of discourse that helps people improve at all levels.

I really like to think of muscle building like this: After you hit failure once, you are in the growth zone and how long you stay in this mini set zone, the more you grow the target muscle

Ok question, my goal is to increase my pull-up reps so I do 53 pull-ups followed by 83 assisted pullups. As a result I’m skipping pull-downs to save time. Good or bad

So why are we still judging science based training on stretch dominant exercises after releasing a study that proves it isn't better for muscle grow exactly

At this point fitness is just bodybuilding.
Only a few people of these faces actually care about fitness and health.
