The way you did your bedroom with all those windows is different than the way I would have done mine if I built one. I wouldn't have had any windows like that in the bedroom and I would have made it like it seemed I was inside of a Ship in my bedroom and one wall would have a Murphy Bed on it that pulls down and the outside wall I would have made Ship like round port hole windows that could be opened and were small. No human being could climb in through them. As for everything else that would be in my bedroom I'm not sure but I would want room for a gaming computer desk somewhere. When the bed is up and into the wall opening up space in the room to do other things, I still am not so sure what I'd put there temporarily until it was bed time and the bed came down. But they have inflatable couches. Some people would put a TWISTER mat on the ground to play that. Things that if you're stranded inside and snowed in, you'd stay entertained. But a computer helps with that the most I think. And I guess it's better if you have a lover too. But outside of those activities and you already have your reading nook, Not sure what else could hold you over mentally trapped inside for a long time. An Indoor Swimming Pool could hold over someone for alot of time many years too. But not possible there.

Shawn you seem to be enjoying your fly fishing trips much more now that you shaken the rust off with your lessons. I find it so much more fun as you can feel every head shake as the rods are much more sensitive.
Out here in BC The salmon are returning to spawn in the rivers. I fly fish for Coho every Oct to Dec. Salmon put up a great fight as they average 6 to 10 lbs with the odd one weighing up to 20 lbs.
The Coho stay dime bright for up to 4 weeks in fresh water and taste delicious. Most rivers are a 90 minute drive from Vancouver, BC.
It would make an excelent holiday if you hired a guide to take you to the most remote spots with custom tied flies. You could go fishing one day they go down hill sking in Whistler the next day I'm sure you and your wife would love it.

For many years I hired Maine guides, stayed at cabins, and fished for bass. It was great fun, but as I grew older (now 76) I began to question catching fish for sport even though we were careful and returned almost all the fish in good health. I started to think I was torturing fish for my own enjoyment. Fishing for food is one thing, fishing for sport is quite different. I’m not judging others, but I no longer can enjoy fishing just for sport. I’d rather just enjoy the wildlife, the birds, and the water.

We stayed in a cabin on an island at the end of Rabbit Lake at Temagimi. It was built by my father's college friend, Dr. John Roach in that time period. I think it was slab. would have to look at daddy's slides. There was a little attached/detached (depending on the lake level) island w/ a sleeping cabin. OH, how I loved that place with the loons. My late brothers made a sign declaring it Roach's Rock and the name stuck. I imagine the son, John Jared is no longer living. It was a magical place to go.

Hay Shawn. If you want reliable electricity at the cabin, find a crank shaft with springs attached at strategically placed. Fly wheel. This will create a constant turning motion at opposite end of fly wheel mount pulley and electric generator.
With 4 or 6 springs in constant tension and a fly wheel in motion it will never quit. I've been watching since the building of first cabin. From there you can have water pumps feeding constant electrical. Give it a thought.

Please don’t think I’m some kind of crazy or not person to ask you that you’ll be living in the Wireless for quite some times. Did you ever have any unwelcome visitors or scary situation or Bigfoot I’ve been watching you from the beginning for many years and enjoy it so much so this time I’m asking silly question. Forgive me and thank you for your videos for your time you live in life of many of us only the dream about it

We have a cabin my Grandfather built in the 40’s. It was built with native Adirondack lumber on stone peers. The deck is framed with 2x6’s, the rest with 2x4’s 24 on center with half log siding directly on the studs. The roof is also framed with 2x4 rafters 24 on center with 3/4 ship lap decking. 86 years old and still strong.

Idk why but I would’ve picked a corner bottom bunk too. Loved the shots of the curious otter checking you out lol! Thank you for sharing, have a good weekend & take care!
Side note: I’m glad YT finally added a way to hide the thumbnails at the end of the video on mobile, I got to enjoy that shot of the fox at the waters edge!

Wait I want to see your valley. Did you not nail down straight flash OG roofer/framer here. Ice and Water shield, then straight valley. If close to the chimney you need to devise an inner flashing system to divert snow and water. Keep up the good work bud doing a fine job. No matter rewind i see you have straight valley in hand.

I cannot believe you can eat such a huge piece of meat. I don’t often eat beef because, if I ate a piece a third that size, my GI tract completely shuts down for a few hours. And I don’t understand at all throwing back good eatin’ fish to eat meat you brung with you. I know I’m missing something here.

Please consider not going to the U. S. at this time. I understand you are relatively self reliant but most of your viewers (both in Canada and the U. S) have already been negatively affected by tariffs - at the very least in the grocery stores. Sorry if you feel this comment might be politically incorrect.

While my country (US) disintegrates before my eyes, I want to thank you so incredibly much for 20 minutes of peace and beauty. Our family camped when I was a kid; I was lucky enough to do that with my own children. Your video gave me a chance to reminisce in my mind. Take care.

My grandma's cabin on Lake of Bays, had a picture window. Looking out the window was like looking thru a funhouse mirror. The glass at the top of the window was about 1/8 thick and 1/2 thick at the bottom.
Cabin was from the 30's. Glass was made differently then.

Shawn. I'm 78 in Nevada, still cutting down scrub pines for firewood, with you as my inspiration. Thank you for your GREAT VIDEOS. Stay safe young man, been with you since you started your gorgeous smaller cabin. I adore Cali, she's a precious gift from God.

Thanks a lot for sharing your trip with us. I spent a lot of time in the bush in my life but I never had the chance to observe an otter that close. She was curious and probably never seen humans before. Really nice to watch.
Thanks again

Shawn your content is magical. You have never disappointed in the last 6 or 7 years. Top water action was like a kid doing a cannonball! I'm so happy you got away for a bit. Cali must have gave you the cold shoulder when you got home, lol!

Thanks Shawn. That was so nice. What a wonderful province we live in. I felt like I was there the whole time. Your choice of simple quiet guitar music in the background is so relaxing. Those fish and chips. wow! Yummy

I think I mentioned this before, but I love the music you pick. It is pleasing and inspiring. From a musician's viewpoint, the tone of the music matches, or goes with rather the attitude of the moment(s. Blends well, simply put.
