Shawn, on those electrical outlet boxes, you could install about six inches of Romex on the receptacle and add wire nuts to the wall outlet. Looks like you cut the Romex too short, best to have the outlet wiring about six inches extended outside the receptacle. As far as repairing the solar electronics controllers, best you can do is swap out the bad system. Chances are those system blocks may have proprietary components and may require specialized test equipment to calibrate and test the systems. Artificial Intelligence will substitute the mundane white collar tasks, but we need experts to validate AI as many business standards are updated with time. Save your back on those heavy tasks.

AI, is a company allowed to form, that is a clone of an Angel .
The Supreme Court Judge , that allowed , was a Clone.
There is One Supreme Court Judge , that is a Man.
He, is the Supreme Court Judge , putting in front of Me .
Electricity is experimentally being changed to an energy.
All, of the Energies, in the World , are in front of Me .
They, can only be used, through My Symbol.
Since I Own Upper Canada , and the United States , and it's Territories, I, can tell You.
We, will be using an actual Energy.
Electricity will fail all the way to the Ground .
We, will be able to put an Energy, in.
I (We) Own, the Electric Companies , the United States .

Great job. I still prefer the traditional log home style over modern designs.
When I think about AI, it reminds me of my early days (1978) when I first started working with computers. Looking at today's world, I believe that for every positive impact the internet has made, it has caused more negative effects. To truly save the world, I hope that one day someone will find a way to completely shut down the internet forever, so we can once again rely on our brains, skills, and manpower. When skills are not passed down from generation to generation, they are lost. The world governments around the world have a fix, but you won't like it. Good luck.

Stupendous, amazing, magnificent, stunning work you are doing. Most of us wish we had a speck of the knowledge you are blessed with. I am in awe of all the planning and hard work that has gone into all your builds, but this one is special. I love watching you tap the trees, boil the sap down for syrup, preparing the animals God gave us for preserving, cooking, etc. I feel this home is a testament to your love for your wife which does my heart good to see that kind of love still exists in a world so filled with hate. Prayers for your safety, good health, and a peaceful life with loved ones.

I think it would be important to either get or build a shed that you can store even more food in it, even better if it had food shelves like if you were shopping types of shelves just to have that to go to nearby. A free extra food you already stocked up store locked up. And probably a back up electrical power system somewhere in a shed or something. More power the better. Maybe you could have a refrigerator even if it's a small one in a shed with power system going to it. I haven't yet seen a video of people with off grid power systems that can run a refrigerator ongoing.

Thanks again for keeping me entertained, I too agree with the trade advice. My son is 13 and unsure about what he wants to do. I gave the same advice if college is not for you go into electrical or HVAC don't be a carpenter with a degree in Anthropology like me. I can teach him carpentry, drywall, painting, insulation etc. He works with me sometimes on side jobs, I work for the city now in planning and development but it took a life time to get there wish I had made better choices in my youth. Loved to see those flight geese heading south reminds me of Pa in the fall.

Beautiful. The work, the colors of the trees.
My dad and brothers built our house in 1946. Used old world methods to build their fireplace. My uncle was a brick layer at that time. My grandpop was knowledgeable in construction. House is built of all cinder blocks. Inside walls also. Stucco on outside over blocks and smooth stucco inside. Made to last a long, long time as your beautiful cabin is. Stone fireplace is so nice.
This old world attention to details don’t exist in commercial homes now.
Appreciate you sharing.

Sorry Shawn but I have to say that I really don't like the way that you split up your videos these days - back in the 'old days' your videos had a lovely 'flow' to them which made them a real pleasure to watch - you concentrated on one thing for a long time and didn't keep dodging back and forth. Sadly nowadays you keep flitting from one thing to another (along with the terribly annoying sponsorships) which makes me think that you're mainly trying to cater to the crowd who have ADHD, and I find that extremely sad.

If what I am seeing is correct, may make a suggestion when performing electrical: You're cutting the wires exiting the box to short. it makes for a more difficult job when attaching an outlet or making a splice. A good rule of thumb - once they're secured in the box make a fist around the wire (sticking out) with your little finger side slightly touching the elec. box. Cut the wire on the thumb side somewhat close to your hand. This usually will give you enough length making it easier to play with. ..

My nieces husband went into electrical about 30 years ago. After taking the course they moved to Calgary and he said there were people lined up to offer you a job as soon as you stepped of the plane. He worked a full time job and had two or three contract jobs that he would do on the side. He quickly got all his journeyman's papers and was making more because of it. Eventually they moved back to Nova Scotia when he was offered a high level position working for Nova Scotia power.

The truth about AI according to the latest report from MIT( yes I trust them) is that 95% of enterprise initiatives have no ROI, and CEOs are regretting jumping on the bandwagon and prematurely laying off valuable employees. the 80% of companies using generative AI, just as many say they’ve seen no significant bottom-line impact, with as many as 42% of companies reporting they abandoned most of their AI pilot projects by the end of 2024, up sharply from 17% a year earlier

You mentioned AI. When Sam Allman, ceo of Open AI, was asked the basis for his AI, said, We consulted hundreds of moral philosophers, people who thought about ethics of technology and systems. In the end, we had to make some decisions. Then when asked who, specifically are the people who decide That one way is better than another Allman said, We have a model behavior team, people who affect the world.
My opinion, As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

As a retired mason with a worn out body, looking back to when I was young, you a correct about looking into being an electrician as a trade, they pay well, good benefits, it’s a good trade especially if you don’t think you’ll go to college. Not everyone is going to go on with a secondary education, learning a trade and sticking with it will give you a good life, I would recommend getting into a union though because they have pensions still plus other benefits.

Really good video. So much better when you take the time to explain what and why you are doing. Your comments on energy now and in the future were especially helpful as your reasoning delt with what you would like versus what is achievable. Here in NY state there is a mandate that all new homes built as of 1/1/2026 have electric heating systems installed (no fossil fuel and no inexpensive alternatives. Keep up the good work and the tutoring sessions.

It you have enough solar panels you can still charge on lightly cloudy days. Cheap CC controlors work fine if they are enough amps to handle the panels. I have been doing solar since 2014. You can destroy a charge controller if you hook it up with out the batts hooked up first. As important as solar power is it should be a top priority. During the next ww3 is might be difficult to get electronics from china that is where its all made.

Sage advice, Shawn. I feel the trades are definitely the way to go. Today’s youth want to be video game designers. But being successful is not easy. The world will always need plumbers, electricians, heating and air, carpenters. There are some careers that just need human thought. Your addition is really coming along. The fall colors are gorgeous! Thank you for bringing us along.

My favorite part is the electrical equipment and everything that is analog or digital, from heavy duty industrial electro mechanical maintenance to soldering audio amplifiers or Arduino related stuff at home. But I hate to do most of the other stuff you do, however I really like watching someone else build these kind of constructions. Really enjoying your videos through the years.

First of all love your videos! Amazing what I've watched you create. I'm a tile setter for a long time now. Not sure if this would apply 2 the first row of stone/rock u set but when I run a tile threw the wet saw we have to dry the back before the mortar or it significantly decreases it's bond. Hope it helps or even better i didn't need 2 comment. Keep up the Amazing Work!

I'd consider opening the unit that failed only if you can avoid touching anything that may potentially hold a charge such as capacitors. I've opened a failed inverter and shocked myself, so be safe. The good news is that the failure was obvious in my case and replacement PCBs were available. I think your instinct of using the old unit as a backup makes perfect sense.

HI SHAWN, JUST CURIOUS WHEN YOU DID THE STONE OUTSIDE THE BOTTOM OF THE ADDITION YOU USED A WIRE MESH TACKED TO THE BASE. SO WHAT IS THE REASON THAT THE PROCEDURE DOESN'T CALL FOR IT TO BE USED ON THE FIRE PLACE ROCK PLACEMENT VERY CLEAVER WAY TO LIFT THE METAL ROOFING PANNELS UP THE LADDER. THE STONE & WOOD MANTEL IS GORGIOUS! Do take care. Fl, USA
