My Wild Life at the Log Cabin

canada The trail cameras have picked up some interesting wildlife around the cabin over the past several weeks. nj: It's funny that you live in the woods in Canada and have to go out and hunt for deer. I live in a nice little town in eastern Massachusetts and today, on the way to drop my dog off at playcare, I saw the largest buck I've ever seen, walk out of someone's driveway and stroll across the street ahead of my car, drove by families of deer grazing across big fields, twice, and drove by a buck that had been hit by a car on the highway on the way home from the gym. The car looked totaled.

Shawn, that looked like a very healthy forked horn/crotch horn deer, no deviations in his short antlers, and he looks BIG for a young deer. How high are your field cameras? That's one I wouldn't normally take/harvest, 1) Too young, 2) Perfect health. I'd normally go for one that needs to be culled, like one with a mal-formed set of antlers or years older. Nice update btw.

Again Shawn another great video. FYI some things in life are private and are in my opinion a no fly zone and you have been gracious enough to take us on your journey. That being said your private loft is a no fly zone. I enjoy the kitchen and what I get is good cooking with your wild game. Again thank you for your videos.

A cabin like your cabin is what I wanted to build. But I inherited a 2000 sq. ft. three level house. gonna turn the basement into a winter workshop.
What I need to figure out is if I can get firewood without using fossil fuels. (I have somewhat of a prepper mindset)

Just curious if you'll do a video on wood bowl making? Cutting board and/or coasters considering how you work so much with the substance. I remember Proenneke did it wood spoons. I enjoy your videos!

Title is misleading, Shawn! Thought we were going to see your wild life when you have some construction down time. instead we see wildlife! Great video, though! Stay safe. Good Girl, Cali!

Ah, the loft. The mysterious loft. So that's where you keep all your dirty dishes. Can't wait to see it. All kidding aside tho, I really enjoy all your videos.

I'm assuming property lines aren't super clear, do you have any signage at the perimeter? Are you ever concerned about people moving through your land?
