So good, even Steve Harvey named it the best fried chicken. Lucas Peterson travels to South Central Los Angeles in search of amazing fried chicken and fish. He finds it at a restaurant called CW & Chris, which opened in a small storefront just weeks before the Rodney King riots rocked the city in 1992. CW & Chris won the award Best Fried Chicken at Steve Harvey's Hoodie Awards on three separate occasions, and continues to serve up flawless fried chicken, wings, fish, oysters to the neighborhood. meh. it's not that deep in the ghetto lol. i don't live there but i've been to this spot a couple times. this is by 60ths street it's bad in the 80-100s: / but honestly. times aren't like they were. gangs were infested like when it was in the 80-90s. it's sketchy there for sure. but you aren't going to die (hopefully) with a visit haha.

. people dont want to come down here because it's got a bad reputation. and it's not true. then Lucas gets to the resaurant--- its got heavy bars covering the door and windows and the lady is taking the order from behind a bulletproof plexiglass partition LOLOLOL. .but I don't doubt for a minute the food was first class

Seriously, if you want some good fried chicken you have to go to South LA. The chain only found there is called Louisiana and its some of the best fried chicken in town. If even the breast is juicy you know the chicken is good. You must try their gumbo and dirty rice with gravy. Good Stuff!

oh my gosh. He just got done saying in the intro that the area doesn't deserve it's reputation as being unsafe! I have never ordered food from someone behind bullet proof glass. So the employees are safe but hey the customers are fair game? LOL.

HAHAHAH. OMG. If the reputation of violence isn't warranted in South (Central, why is everyone hidden behind bullet-proof glass? And this video was posted 4 1/2 years before covid-19. Ya can't play a playa, Lucas. ;)

I know some of you guys are super sheltered so let me just fill you all in. There are restaurants, corner stores, and checking cashing places with bullet proof glass like that, all across the nation.
reply

If you have toorder through glass that is that thick. Ummm. whatever negative rep they have is probably well deserved. Remember, your eating in that space the staff is protecting themselves from.

every time I watch this video cause I am craving 'the good bird', I wonder what is behind the Illinois shaped California flag shirt. Is there some kind of brotherhood I am missing out on?

I would love to see Lucas come to 113 and Michigan Avenue in Chicago, IL. They have the best donuts! Made fresh daily. You have to come early unless you can't get all the flavors.

Nicely done again Lucas. Frying is an art form of culinary magnitude. My great grandmother was from Texas via Louisiana. I cook her chicken to this day. Blessings ChefMike
