Balut, chicken intestines, congealed pork blood. Everything's a dollar at the Dollar Hits truck that dishes up traditional (yet bizarre) Filipino street eats. Adventurous eaters welcome. At about 10 p. m, a small-of-stature woman sitting behind a table that's in front of a large, white food truck turns around and picks up the microphone, making an announcement in a high, sweet voice over the crowd of people on the sidewalk. You can't really make out but every other word. [LOUD INAUDIBLE] DOLLAR HITS [ECHO ECHO] EVERYTHING'S ONE DOLLAR [ECHO ECHO]. Watch more Dining on a Dime with Lucas Peterson ____________________

The appeal is that the yolk taste like strikingly similar to a mousse foie gras. And the duck is meaty/fatty/gelatinous all at the same time. Bu you need to be gently introduced to the delicacy. As a kid, I just ate the yolk and it took years before I was craving the full experience with the duck. In Vietnam, you eat it with vietnamese coriander leaves and salt and pepper. You crack open the egg, season the liquid with salt and pepper, and drink it. Eat the yolk by itself. But season the duck with a bit of salt and pepper and a couple vietnamese coriander leaves.

i tried this once with filipino friends. i am not a fan of the lil duck, but i am also not a fan of wasting or talking trash about food, so i ate it. the yolk and the liquid seems pretty decent tho. the white part is too tough but i still ate it even though my friends told me i can diss it off. only thing i didn't eat. nothing. i ate even the shell. cos hey, if you experienced having nothing to eat for weeks on end, then you know how it is not to waste freakin food

That place literally sounds like a street in the PH where you can buy street food! Even the songs they play (yep I can recognize the Gloc 9 and Yeng Constantino songs playing in the background) contribute to the entire ambiance. Now I know where to go when I miss Filipino street food when I move in to the US. I'm pretty sure the ladies who own that store would be fond of me. I can eat 4 baluts without getting hypertension. Anyway, awesome video! :)

I went there twice. It's already pre cook. Me, wife, and brother in law don't like it. It taste like it's a few hours old. I like the bbq from Bahay Kubo, 1 dollar price also. And they cook it only when you order but sometimes they have pre cook too(but it's still good and tasty. Bahay Kubo is a sitdown or to go restaurant.

fact: balut really is like viagra. it's a natural aphrodisiac. one of the main reasons why it is eaten during at night. but eating more than 3 per day might kill you fast due to high cholesterol and fat. but 2 USD for one balut is a rip-off. that's around 100 pesos. you can buy 6-7 balut with that money here.

Nick Solares is coming with an army of the dead, and unless we transcend our petty differences to fight him, we will all become pretentious, self-indulgent hipsters. We must unite, because alone we don't stand a chance. The man in this video is the person to lead us.

I didn't know you could serve innards from food trucks. // I like those kind of self-serve drink things because a lot of people miss the cup and pour the drink down their dirty fingers and back into the container.

balot isn't a pinoy viagra. it just make your knee strong. its a street jokes that they said if they saw you eating balot, you're having a wild night coming because you know, better make that knee strong for long. .

This style of eating outdoors is nostalgic to the family parties and picnics I grew up going to. BBQ on a stick is definitely one of my favorites. Every Filipino has a family member that has the best BBQ recipe.

Lol, when you're Asian and realized you've eaten many parts of an animal because of upbringing and it's considered unique cultural experiences! Oh mann, we had to eat it because it's what we hadddd
