You missed one thing: check to see if anything is seizing up.
One road trip, my compressor bearing started to seize, and I didn’t realize it until I ended up needing a threehour tow near Yukon, Canada.
Unfortunately, the mechanic didn’t have a smaller belt to bypass it, so I had no choice but to get the part replaced once it arrived from Edmonton, Alberta. Between the tow and the repair, it turned into a very expensive detour during my road trip with friends. We had two vehicles, but we couldn’t all fit into one; thankfully, the mechanic allowed us to use one of his spare pickups to continue our trip until we returned.
The worst thing is that I had a gut feeling we shouldn’t take my car before we left and should take someone else's, but I ignored it.

To prepare for a road trip i went to Jiffy Lube, since they do signature inspections with their service. It wasn't a long trip but it was an important one and halfway there my engine oil light came on. I didn't bother to check the oil because I just had it done and so I assumed it was something mechanical. Turns out my engine had hardly any oil in it. Luckily my car was a Dodge and made the long trip back home on almost no oil. Always check your car yourself.

Forgot to apply RainX or some other water repellent to your windscreen. When going on a road trip you are almost guaranteed to run into rain and when passing semis there is so much spray you can be blinded with only wipers. Ah I didn't realize you had a newer Prius. When you said you loved your prius I thought you meant that old silver one you fixed up. Can you nap/overnight in it Note: I hate shorts and had to replace shorts/ with watchv= in the url.

Never checked most of the things except oil change, oil filter change, fuel and tire pressure, because this car has only ran 17, 000Km, yes, Kilometres, for 3 years now, engine sounds like it's got a cough after running it for 30 mins and revving it on 4, 000 RPM makes it seem like the injection fuel is already caked up, Saw some videos saying you need to Rev it up to 6, 000 RPM to let that gunk out. is that true

I had a tire blowout from a pothole and my 16 Prius had a unused Japanese spare tire so I put on and drove him but it was deflated so when I got near my home I put air in it. Always check your spare tires pressure. Also great car for a trip I took my Prius to a short 80 miles one way trip and was averaging 55-60 mpg

I have to disagree about the tyre pressure.
It's better to look at the max pressure on the tyre wall, could be different from the sticker inside the door.
If it's winter, inflate until a little below the max, and in other seasons inflate almost to the max.
Also check your fog lights and use them when needed

Someone else mentioned it but it's definitely a good idea to check parts like the accessory/drive belt and the radiator hoses.
I once had a drive belt suddenly shred itself mid-drive. Luckily it happened rignt next to a service station, but it would've been a worse situation if it happened in less built-up areas.

I know this is 1st world problems but I’ve owned my Tesla for 3 years and the only thing I’ve changed are tires (once, wiper blades and wiper fluid. That’s it! First year of ownership I put 14, 000 miles on it and paid a grand total of $237 in electricity for the year

Another tip drive around at night in a not so well lit area like a back road not an ally to make sure you can see at night well most newer cars shouldn't have foggy headlight casings but if yours are foggy having new bulbs won't help much

Get the car on jacks, shake down the suspension, remove the wheels and check the brakes. That’s what I would add on. I also work at a shop so I like to balance all my tires and do an alignment the day before

You never do any harm to your car if you over change your oil.
In other words, if it’s been at least six months, change your oil
They use such lightweight oil nowadays. It’s best to have fresh oil.

I'd add brakes to the list. Had a 2000 mile trip where uneven wear led to metal on metal from the inside pad at 250 miles in. While Autozone parking lot brake jobs are an option, they aren't a good option.

My father always give me this responsibility
1. Check tyre pressure
2. Check coolant level
3. Check wiper fluid
4. Check the fuel level
5. Clean all windows
6. Clean all mats

I keep a squeegee mop and ultrafine microfiber glass-cleaning cloths in my car. You can use them with plain water so you don't have to keep cleaner in the car. They make folding squeegee mops too

If your going up north or a cold climate and you live in a hot area. Get a kit to test your coolant (or flush it if old. I had a radiator blow up when going to Colorado. When I live in Texas.

we have every gizmo under the sun. why don’t we have an external lights check like most semi trucks do It would take an amazingly small amount of effort to add this feature.

Theres 1 other thing I always check before a road trip, and thats whether ChrisFix has uploaded the turbo del sol video yet. So far never happened, but always gotta be safe.

My brother, how long after shutting down the engine can I check the oil and coolant Not exactly to not burn my hands but to get an accurate reading after they cool down.
reply

From personal experience I would check the lights on a wall because u might have a headlights pointing to the ground and that would be a big problem at night
reply

I also keep a Starlink mini in the car for remote service anywhere so I don't have to worry about breaking down in a area with no cell service. I highly recommend
