I had been on a service call to an oil rig in the gulf. Caught a helicopter out of Venice, Louisanna. After 4 days of rig life I was driving home, about 45-50 miles into my drive I decided to stop at a convience store and grab a soda and a sandwich. Came out, got in my truck and it would not start. Battery wass hot, starter working, motor spinning over and I'm still 80 miles from home and tired. Started looking around under hood, three wires going to the injectors were chewed on. 1 was completly through, 1 was still good but no insulation, and the 3rd one was frayed out. Only thing I figured out was the chewed wires were hanging on by a strand and when I shut it off the vibration of the motor winding down must have ended the last couple ) strands. Pocket knife and some electrical tape and I'm on my way. Next day I cut back the wiring and added in some so it wasn't being strained on. Solder and hear shrink fixed it properly. Wasn't a rat though, I have 5 wateroaks on my property and those bushy tail rodents (squirrels) are all over the place. I now park in a different spot and to keep it from happening again I broadcast the yard with crushed moth balls. Rodents can't stand the stuff. lol another thing, if you try this method, cats and dogs don't like it either. Don't try it if you have pets, lol

Fact
Sadly you can blame the tree huggers for that.
.
Many new cars now use SOY based plastic parts and wiring which attracts rodents.
.
As a result, vehicles can no be totaled out over a weekend by just one rat or hungry squirrel.
.
Several car makers have been sued over this problem yet they continue to use even more food based lubricants, plastics, and yes even tires that attract rodents.

Living here in Flagstaff, Arizona we actually HAVE Hontavirus. Named unfortunately after the native, Hondha', we say, Navajo, the very deadly disease is most active in the wetter warm seasons and is carried in the airisolised urine of mice. We get a lot of rat and squirrel damage here too.

Just seen the first mouse of the spring here, took it five minutes to try the dark roast peanut paste in the trap. Then put this on and there's mice. At work they nested in the 4wd air vents, bad bad smells of piss.

It's good to poke fun at the safety police who infest the comments section. Where I work there's a sign hanging on the wall that reads Meet the person responsible for your health and safety and it's a mirror.

Looked on the old Amazon and I did not see the Honda Rodent tape being offered there any more. However you should be able to pick up a roll from your local Honda dealer.

. 37% thumbs down is actually an amazing number. that's still less than the percentage of people that thumbs down puppies, chocolate and indoor plumbing.

Hmmm, my german shepherd used to bare his teeth and growl at you if offered a taste of Thai very spicy papaya salad but now he will lap it up if it's offered.
