My guess would be by moving the wiper arm and/or the cowl you are actuating the wiper park switch, which is probably completing some alternate ground circuit via some part of the wiper circuit that shares a ground with the relay in question.
In particular, if the other (non-ground) side of the wiper park switch goes to an input on some sort of electronic control module, the clamping diodes on that input essentially cause the whole module to be (badly) grounded through the switch as well as anything that shares a ground with it.

hey, most people don't want to spend 185 for a wiring diagram of their car so. you could email the diagram to them for a small cost. the demand for diagrams seems high so your wife could do this at work on her computer and you might be able to offset the cost or even maybe a profile supplying the wiring diagrams to people. something to think about if your wife has the time.

The awesome part is Eric fixed the problem. The not so awesome part is the fuse box has a case of the krusties because it's a scrap yard part, so something else will eventually fail and Eric gets the blame. Hopefully Eric documented this fact on the paperwork because I can see the other shop saying we didn't touch it. Fortunately there's video proof of this flaw.

People always say bad ground with electrical diags but what about a hot/positive wire touching something it shouldn't be, or maybe a wire is pinched somewhere. The car has had bodywork done, i know myself that sometimes wires get pinched/broken or disconnected unintentionally. Follow your instincts Eric and your gut as it is very rarely wrong

it's painful to watch you troubleshoot! Obviously, the numbskull that replaced the fuse block didn't connect the ground correctly, one look at the chassis ground shows it's good, but long before I went there I would try the connection on the fuse block and run a new ground wire if necessary and problem solved.

These are the kind of problems that keep all the distilleries in business. You did the right thing by concentrating on the one issue and seeing it through. The moving of the wiper arm was the clue that there was a common problem to all of this. Great find in the fuse box. You are the man!

Hey Eric. could that square connector been rotated 90 degrees? A trick I learned in big iron use a mechanical pen to straighten pins. Less likely to break. I'm full of useless information. Love your casts, Keep an old mans interest.

Great diagnosis on the cobalt Eric rocks at South Main Auto, My Verus Pro let me down on a 2011 Hyundai sport P0011 was the code and my scanner lead my to chase down a bad gas pedal when i found it to be a intake electric cam phaser

Hi. im working on a 2007 cobalt 2. 2, no start. When turning key to on position, the lights used to turn on. Now nothing comes on, only the security light. So I got used ECM n installed, still nothing. need some help buddy

I be 2000 Chevy cobalt of colonel can work is stopped on the twice and I just pulled the battery cable hooked it backup and start backup and if you might have an answer for this maybe he would please let me know thank you
