I'm sorry but the Key I believe is that fact she say's a number of time's it was OK until I had my TIMING BELT replaced I'm just gonna take a stab at it and say some rookie did the belt wrong Or they might have had some piston to valve interference. Just my take on what she said. and seeing as I've spent many years in the dealership service department I can tell you I've seen some pretty amazing guy's claim to be auto mechanics but turn out to be parts changer's who have NO BUSINESS in the auto repair field at all. And if this Ridge-line had a whole bunch of mile's on it I would say your right But the key is it ran fine UNTIL the timing belt. Maybe they bent a valve so I might do a leak down test as well. You have already said exactly what happened now your talking about Blow by on a Honda engine with NOT even 80K? I'm sorry bro but your analogy was correct way back when you said what the dealership had done. They Misaligned the timing marks the first go round and they had piston to valve relationship for however brief it was still a relationship. Now you have a valve that is NOT seating correctly because it's bent. and that is why you have Low compression in that bank.

I saw something similar happen years ago to a race-ready Ford V8 with high compression pistons. Timing chain was off the motor, waiting to be replaced. But the battery wasn't disconnected. That was the fatal mistake. Someone who wasn't working on the car and didn't know the chain was off got into the drivers seat and decided to spin the starter. CLUNK!

OK what was the final outcome? I looked in your videos Eric and I don't see a follow up where you rebuild the engine or take the head off it and figure out exactly what is broken. Did they have this car repaired? Or did they just get rid of it?

Honda Tech 32 years here, pull the head off and pop a new exhaust valve in #4 cyl. the valve is 16 bucks and 5 bucks for some lapping compound! one afternoon easy peasy! smh. yes it got bent during t-belt job at dealer!

I'll bet they just used the existing coolant instead of replacing it when they installed the new radiator.
I would have kept the original rad to have it inspected. Also I would have had the egr ports cleaned.

Before you do any diagnostic you told the problem or very. When you say you heard pop pop pop noise coming from tail pipe. You know everybody know that's exhaust valve is burn/cracked possible need head

Nice diagnostics, wondering how you hooked up the smoke machine into plug. Is there an attachment or did you rig it. Used them for other applications but not like this, very cool.

The engine cam rotates clockwise not counter clockwise correct? Does it hurt it if you rotate it in the opposite direction like you did? Just curious
