We'd like to say a huge thanks to the Santa Margarita Ranch, the Petersen Museum, Ford USA and the extremely generous Mustang owners for helping us put this video together! Change your car with Carwow: It’s time for an almighty Ford Mustang head-to-head! We’ve got seven generations of the world’s most iconic pony car lined up on the runway to see which era reigns supreme. From the legendary 60s Shelby to the brand-new Dark Horse, it’s a V8-powered journey through time! Let’s check out the stats First up, the Mk1 GT350 Shelby (1965. It’s got a 4. 7-litre V8 producing 446hp and 569Nm. Representing the 70s is the Mk2 King Cobra, with its 5. 0-litre V8 making a modest 141hp. It’s the lightweight of the group at 1, 240kg and is valued at around $30, 000. Then we have the Mk3 Fox Body GT (1993) with the famous 5. 0-litre High Output V8 pushing 228hp and 407Nm, weighing in at 1, 450kg with a price tag of $30, 000. Moving into the 2000s, the Mk4 Bullitt brings 269hp and 413Nm from a 4. 6-litre V8. It weighs 1, 470kg and costs roughly $20, 000. Things get serious with the Mk5 Bullitt (2008. Its 4. 6-litre V8 is a beast, putting down 320hp and 441Nm! It’s 1, 610kg and worth about $30, 000. Following it is the Mk6 Bullitt (2018, a naturally aspirated hero with 480hp and 570Nm, weighing 1, 755kg and valued at $50, 000. Finally, we have the latest tech: the Mk7 Dark Horse (2024. It packs 507hp and 567Nm from its 5. 0-litre Coyote V8, weighs 1, 800kg, and will set you back $64, 000. Will the raw power of the Dark Horse be too much for the Mk6 Bullitt There’s only one way to find out for sure LET’S RACE! Sell my car:

Not using stock cars, not using standard cars (a 2002 Bullitt is not a valid representation of the dog a 2 valve GT was, and not having a pro driver is poor journalism. Honestly not trying to hate, but someone who doesn’t know any better will believe this is how these cars are. They’ll think Mustang IIs are anything other than emissions choked 70s cars. Their peak hp was the 140 hp king cobra shown here and no, you’re not getting that performance from a 4 bbl, cam, and headers on the stock short block. A fox 5. 0 running a 16. 4 in the quarter is a huge tell, those cars stock ran low 14s with a good driver. That wasn’t the surface either, everything else ran what it should (minus the cobra running 2 seconds faster than stock with 3 mods. He’s 9 parts away from running a 10 second 1/4 apparently. Using ultra rare variants to represent certain generations is cheeky. This could have been interesting, but it was just bad.

Sorry, nope. You missed the E generation. A Mach-E would wipe the road with all of them. It may be the most hated Mustang but it's amazing to own & drive with it's rear-wheel bias and on-tap AWD
LOL, these rolling start races are like watching seniors race their walkers.

reply

What an awful comparison. A 10 speed auto No Terminator How about a '14 Boss 302 How about a Fox Body that isn't modified yet still running almost 3 seconds slower in the quarter than bone stock Must have been slim pickens.
reply

Holy shit! where did you find that foxbody Bradford aaaaaaaand. tell us you know jack shit about cars without telling us you know jack shit about cars. Matt four barrel. don't know what that is What an idiot.
reply

Funny growing up I was into import cars and hated Mustangs. Now still into imports but one day I will have a Oxford White no stripes 2021 Mach 1 with a stage 2 VMP supercharger.
I want I want I want

Can you drag race some classic Ferraris 308, 328, 355, 360, F430, 458, 488, F8 or do a flagship race, Testarossa, 550, 599, F12, 812, 12 Cilindri or do a Ferrari 4 seat race, 612, FF, GTC4Lusso, Purosangue: )

Everyone craps on the Mustang II, but that’s not fair if you remember the times. The malaise era was a very dark time for cars, and Ford sold a whole lot of them. It kept the Mustang alive, if nothing else.

After owning a 35th anniversary mustang, I tell what is car wow about this video is that more didn’t break down. only put 12k on it and then gave that check engine light generator to someone else.
reply

They are missing a generation. 1971-1973 was a very different design to the 1970 and older years.
Also: Matt doesn’t know the difference b/w a 2 barrel carburetor and a 4 barrel carburetor

reply

Too bad the Gen 1 wasn’t able to race. I would have love to even hear just start up of it. Think it’s definitely one of the best with a nice cold start.
reply

Randy seems like the classic American gearhead. wholesome, enjoys the car he has and generally seems like a content person.
This is my goal when i get older.

reply

awesome to see Sam giggling in the 08 Bullitt.
Reminds me when I bought one in 2010 and taking it out for a cruise for the first time. Just giggles.

reply

Mat being a car guy but doesn’t know what a four barrel carb is and thinks gen 2 mustang is good looking. mat has been dropped down a few pegs for me
reply

Would have been nice to see the S550 Mach 1 instead of the Bullet against the Dark Horse. The Dark Horse should have also had the Tremec TR-3160.
reply

Ok, first of all, admitting that the Gen 2 was actually a Mustang can get you deported. Don't cry! In the South, it can get you Shot.
reply

What happened to the Mach 3 Mustang and the Mach 4 they are so so different from all the other versions. Iis this 80s or 90s madness
reply

Amazing how heavy gen 7 is vs gen 1. 50 percent heavier with same horsepower. gen 1 eleanor would have won if it was allowed to race.

0: 13 As Long As You're Not A Peter File Like Someone That's In Charge Of This Country, I See No Reason Why To Keep You Out.
reply

Sorry but the fox body mustang sure could have used a better driver
I had 5 fox body mustangs, all ran at the 14. 4 mark.

reply

That old man in MK2 is the most chill dragrace driver I've ever seen, it's like he's driving in normal day going to supermarket
