I rarely check my air filter, and especially not care about how it looks. Since my car was new, I added a prefilter underneath, a cotton like material use in air conditioners. Every couple of years, I blow it out with compress air and check it with a light. My last car, I decided to change the filter after 150, 000 miles, I could have kept it longer, but just feel like it. Same with cabin filters. The PCV valve, I just clean with carb cleaner and make sure it rattle. I change brake pads before it become metal to metal, save the rotor, and I squirt brake fluid into the caliper piston inside the dust boot. Than it will not seize.

I know these videos are a couple years old so I dont know if Hanna still has this car, But one good video that would be a good learning experience for the girls would be the timing chain on that ecotech if its got more than 100k miles on it. They are known for timing chain issues. Couple of months ago I did 3 of them over 2 weeks. They are a simple job on these so it would be a good opportunity to teach the girls a little bit about the internal parts of the engine.

you really go over the car nice with the girls. i noticed the headlights. real dull. i have refinished several of these. man the really brighten up the road at night. sand real good and clear. i recently added led bulbs to two of my work vehicles. those really make night driving great. just readjust the beam after install. just thinking of driver safety.

Here in Australia, bogans pull the springs and chop two or more inches off them with an angle grinder, then remove those annoying restrictions on the exhaust like the catalytic converters, resonators and mufflers. In New York State, your climate does it all for you hahaha!

I started teaching my daughter about her car but then she went out an bought a new Toyota Corolla with all the services included in the price so I guess there won't be anything to teach. I'll be long gone before that thing wears out.

I understand this is quite an old video, but would add - down south where we are closer to the sun it's worth inspecting the headlight lens for UV damage. Great video and congrats for winning.

I changed my oil with just a jack holding it. I called him to help and well he wasn't expecting to be the one holding the vehicle.
