we do a quick diagnosis on the EVAP system and how to find this small leak when the smoke machine would not be much of a help because there is no visible leak that we would see

I feel in the beginning of video it is very misleading when you go from cmdtcs to an eobd pending code selection. The code is only showing in pending codes either because it hasn't been cleared on IDS side or that there is a direct short somewhere, which there wasn't. An evap monitor could take weeks to run a small leak test before it would show up again. A p0442 would almost never show back up in a key stroke after clearing. This is not a circuit code its a leak monitor code. The IDS ford factory scan tool doesn't show pending codes. It shows KOEO, KEOR and CMDTCS. There is no such function as pending. So I know that's an EOBD basic function like you'd find on a code reader. Also the simplest way to diagnose any purge valve is to unplug it electrically and pull canister inlet line off. Run engine and put your finger over inlet. If its sticking your finger or pulling light vacuum its bad

I have a question about my Ford Fiesta's charcoal evap canister. Near the air hose on it is a plastic lever that can be switched 90 degrees in locked and unlocked positions. I messed around with this canister last night due to a P0456 error and I can't remember what it was set on by default. Should it be locked or unlocked? Thanks my man!

Nice quick diagnosis and repair. When you've seen the problem, that helps to fix it.
We didn't have Ford Es cappA vehicles. Our F250 and F350's had the regular system. Mostly hoses, pressure sensors, and leaks around the fuel module cover/ plastic nut, after pump replacements. Great Video AND technique!

I just recently had to change the purge valve because of the code? This happened to be yesterday 4/20/19 now I see the Sam code it hasn't changed? Any tips? I did check the new purge valve to see if it was working I just changed it I thought the check engine would erase?

Hey Eric. I have a question. I put a smoke machine into my evap system to check for leaks. I closed off the vent and the gas tank was close to empty. When I hooked up the smoke machine up, the gas tank started to make a popping sound. Can you tell me what that is? Thanks so much!
