heh, by the time we got to LGA1366 all core 5GGz wasn't undoable, and the Year after that it was basically the norm from then on to today.
just, not out of the Box. but the Cooling available at the time could handle it, so like. not like it was outlandish to do it exactly. though sure, maybe only like 50% of Chips could do it.
and 16 Cores is super overkill for most people - with Multi-Threading an 8 Core part is already, as far as the basic Consumer is concerned, a -16 Core CPU-. so you don't need to actually give them 16 Cores for them to think they have that many. plus keeping the Core Count more reserved makes it easier to make those Cores faster which as always is what makes most things people do faster.
more Cores from around 8-12 is just more multi-tasking(until Quantum Computers, and you can already do a lot of that on 8C8T let alone more. there'll always be edge cases so we'll see high Core Counts from time to time, but we're not going to see those doing a whole lot for performance outside of Video/3D Rendering. see also Alder Lake, 8C16T wiping the floor with 16C32T.
my perfect Processor at the moment is 10 P Core 0 E Core with better Memory Controllers, on a big Die so that cooling it isn't such a pain as Alder Lake is to cool.
Windows 10 is pretty good now overall, but that's after several Years of a disasterzone mess, hehe.
and Win11 is for the most part insofar as taking some various Power User stuff and integrating it, so as a Power User - not that big a deal to me. Scheduling is good, and having an in OS way to defeat that Displayport Bug since not all Monitors have the necessary setting to fix it - but that's not life changing(the Scheduler is even mostly w/e, if i had an Alder Lake Chip, i'd disable the E Cores anyways, don't need them. then you add on the usual -UI downgrades- of features that are missing or made more complicated and that it started as Win10 22H2 with a new Shell - yeah, no reason to specifically go to it, especially for people that their Computer isn't just a toy.
also solid color fills and sharp rectangles always looks good, i'd be happy using this for the rest of my life. change for the sake of change is a poison on our World.

This web-talk is not what one could be expecting from industry-experts Just no. Don't misunderstand me: -what do you think. -, -I think. -, -I'm curious about. -, -I don't know. -, -I don't know. -, -I don't know. -, -I don't know. -, -I don't know. -. -
Hmmm. I could have the same conversation with my neighbor's 7 years old son. Hopefully, someday they realize they can use math-stochastic optimization modeling, then turning on their fancy 5Ghz CPUs instead heating their poor laptops with childish games, and bless us with reliable information from simulations and even quatitative forecasts, using that lazy data from those super cloud warehouses & uhs SDDs. -
Greetings!

Brad, you keep giving out bad info. Bitcoin has been flat for a few weeks. It didn't even crash, i t just dipped like it usually does. You know it will go back up, but you just love saying the word crash. Also, A'dem, I've been on Windows 11 since the first preview a long time ago and have created and published hundreds of videos using Adobe CC with no problems. Also, don't know if they were making stuff up, but Win Central had published numbers that look great, but they're a bunch of clickbaiters over there, so who knows. And while I'm using my keyboard, I might has well say that there has never been a movie more RGB than Star Trek The Motion Picture!

they can re-label their chips in various configurations every time they want to boost the $$$ they have coming in per die. It doesn't matter. there still isn't anything to buy. as oem contracts expire, they will have to pay more and more, so the prices will go up. until there are actually parts on shelves, or parts to pick from when buying a pre-build. you just have to get what is available for whatever price they want. wake me up when it is over.

The hardware manufacturers are going to kill themselves. 99% of computer users do not need the next generation of CPU's and GPU's. The majority do not even need or have the current releases. Look at the Steam survey, typical gamers do not use high end hardware. Home users browsing the net and using email have less hardware requirements than Steam gamers. Manufacturers are heading for a wall.

CPU clocks and IPC are nice, but when you look at CPU benchmarks and reviewers throw up the Adobe Photoshop benchmarks, for example, it has no resemblance to using the software.
While it's true that the newest hotness is higher on the chart, in real life, that means, what, your render takes 10 seconds less? That's not enough to justify upgrading.

I totally stopped building and buying PCs because I can't get a graphics card for them. The downside is I stopped buying motherboards and everything else also. It's a snowball effect. The entire industry is suffering because of this issue. There should be some kind of law against this mess.

22: 00 a typical Gordon moment:
-It isn-t intel-s fault that we were stuck at 4 cores for 10 years, they tried. It-s the customers fault because they didn-t want to pay triple the price for 2 more cores-.
Well done. I am glad Intel did not lose their loyal fan base at the full nerd.

Missed opportunity at the beginning for a transition.
-Oh man, we all seem to have the giggle hurts. Laughing so hard it hurts. Speaking about giggle hurts, 5GHz is in the news- A bit of a stretch, but I'll let you hold on to that one for later use.
