Dell XPS 15 was the worst thing I ever bought. I decided to go for a Microsoft instead of a mac despite going into the art industry. The laptop has seen 3 motherboard replacements in under a year. Bearing in mind I never took it out of the house except for 1 day a week for certain ZBrush Tutorials. The Fan underneath is broken and I'm now out of warranty to fix it. Dell wouldn't give me a replacement despite buying directly from them They just kept repacing the faulty Parts in my faulty laptop. I had a problem in the start where it wouldn't turn on constantly it would take three tries then is gave up 2 DAYS BEFORE A DEADLINE. DO NOT BUY THIS LAPTOP

Buying Dell 9560 with top specs was the worst decision I'v ever made on laptops - and I've bought almost like a dozen in the last decade. Very unstable performance, 3 battery replacements in 3 years. Never Dell for me again. And more over - searching for the battery problem just recently I realized that the problems have not yet been fixed even for newer models. And Dell techs claim that 1 year is a normal life span for a battery? Tell it to my ASUS battery with 5+ years and 89% battery still available for long long hours.

Hey Gordon,
I recently purchased a Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 7390 and while it is a gorgeous machine I don't know if I bought quite what I should have gone for. I do game quite a bit but not enough or games that are too graphics-intensive to justify a dedicated gaming laptop. Would the XPS 7590 be better oriented to what I'm looking for? Is there something else you would recommend where I'm not losing out on other areas by buying a true gaming laptop?

As a dell xps 15 user myself if your doing any audio work don-t buy any of these the DPC latency issues will mess with all ur interfaces and cause clicks and pops in your audio playback and monitoring. These issues won-t affect general users but those doing any music production and recording will get poor performance from audio devices

So I-m about to buy a laptop, I do mainly school work photo editing and I might dabble in video editing in the future. I-ve had my mind set on the 15 for $1499 but I wonder if that-s a little overkill. I kinda wanted to buy the xps 15 to future proof it but it-s a lot on money. I don-t want a 2-in-1would the 13 be better for me than the 15

Can I still do some reasonable photo and video editing with the XPS 13 when it's just the quad core? Cause, you can't get the six core in Europe but I'm not sure if I want to buy the XPS 15 or if I even need it (also I don't know how portable it is and if the battery life is any good)
Please give me some advice.

its mid July 2020 and I told dell on the phone I bought their product based off your review. XPS 15 7690 4k, I9, 64gb, 2TB hd. I cant wait for them to deliver it. I liked the way you did this review as well as the setting you did it in. plan to use mine for video editing and some basic Computer science task.

be careful to buy this laptop there are two serious issues
1- screen flickering - factory issue
2- thermal throttling.
even if you buy it actually dell technical support will do nothing for you as they did nothing for me
I have 5 laptops i9 OLED screen and all of them have those issues.

Great review guys and timely, since I'm looking to buy an XPS over Black Friday. Would have liked to hear something about the 13- 2in1 with the 6 core configuration. I need portability and something that handles video editing and was wondering if that unit would do the job?

The Dell website only shows 256 and 1 TB for SSD on the 2 in 1. I think they planned that out. One will run out faster making people get something new and the other is the most expensive option that nobody will get if they had the 512 SSD option.
