the 16 core will probalby come later when intel release the 10 core cometlake. itll probalby go like this, ryzen and cometlake 3, 5, and 7 cpus will release within a few months of each other later this year (rumors of cometlake being delayed is the 10 core i9, not the whole series. then early next year intel might release a 10 core i9. if they do that then amd will release the 16 core then. if intel dont release the 10 core then amd will save the 16 core for half way between the ryzen 3000 and the next gen next year to keep the media cycle mentioning them.
some of these chips will hit 5hgz or near it (at least each core will be capable. but older boards that dont have the vrms will be limited more to high-mid 4ghz maybe. and that will be oc, stock you might have 1 or 2 core boost. its possible that the boost will be with one die active. the dynamic local mode they released for threadripper (like legacy mode with half cores not being used but you dont have to reboot) was probably put out for these chips. dynamic local mode detects that only about half the cores are being fully used and so it must be a game or something so they will idle the other die with half the cores on it and tell windows to keep all the threads on the die that is not idled. if you use both dies then the clocks will be a lot lower
the thing with 7nm is that they wont be as consistant as a dual patterned process. you will have wild swings between the highest clocking chips and the lowest. some will clock worse than ryzen 2000 chips and some will clock with intels best possibly. where they put each of those kinds of dies wil make all the difference.
im starting to think that they will make the whole lineup except the ryzen 3 with 2 chiplets plus io die. the 8 core chiplet with 1 io die was just an engineering sample. so the r5 will be 2 4 core dies, r7 w 2 core dies, 29 2 8 core dies. all the dies at the edges of the wafer with missing cores cut off (cause its a square die on a circlular wafer) will be either ryzen 3 (6 cores on a single die that clock low) or one of the other dual chiplet cpus. probalby one of each version like the 2700 and the 2700x. one with slower dies and one with better clockers. wont be surprised if they cost more
all the other cpus would take reject dies. but the 16 core would take premium dies and 2 of them. i think itll be a bit later. let everybody buy 12 cores and let them see how much demand for epyc there is. then when they have some extra dies do the 16 core

It's all about clock speed vs clock speed because of a decade of Utube reviewer's -1080P FPS- -1080P FPS- -1080P FPS- -1080P FPS-. You must get more FPS than your monitor can paint per second and pay $200 for G-sync to stop the tearing. You must buy a $750 graphics card made for higher resolution monitors and run it on a 1080P monitor for more FPS you can't see. You must get Intel 4 core CPU's for the clock speed so the 1080P FPS will exceed the game engines ability to run that many frames and stutter. Why would anyone buy an AMD with smooth stutter free gaming on free sync and enough cores to game and stream at the same time?

28: 35 old news really 2016 AMD roadmap -2018- Navi -Scalability & Next gen Memory- and 2016 rumor replacement for Polaris and as it is also in all of the low cost Kid boxes that could really just mean gddr6.
16 core maybe someday, but a 2x5(20) or 2x6(24) or 2x4(16) with little higher L1 and L2 with less core on die less heat more room to get higher speed, now kind of setup and IF AMD could get it to due a 4. 5 with 4. 7 boost on air cool and hold 4. 7 maybe little more on 4-ish cores with a AMD nutter water cooling setup now that could move some of the poorer Intel fanboys over to Side Of Light

2. 27. get on with it, already! This is where YouTube is at a disadvantage. .for once lol. compared to mainstream TV and shows. none of this inane waffle would be included in the transmission, in fact it wouldn't even occur in the first place. professional anchors work to the clock soon as the producer tips them the wink.
Here, and to be fair on most other YouTube shows, producers are merely an extra geek sitting at a laptop, checking info rather than 'producing' the show.
Good God. it's 7. 37 before the train reluctantly leaves the station, blinking it's eyes and yawning lol.

Adam, I have got a question for the next Q&A section.
Why do reference cards ALWAYS have a bad cooling solution? You never get a beefy heatsink and silent fans (silent barings, good shape of the blades) with reference cards. Why? Do AMD and Nvidia not want to invest in that because they want a lower price or do they not want to invest in it to be nice to their partners?
I ask because many of us gamers get annoyed that we have to wait for a month after the launch of the reference cards if we want properly cooled cards.

Adam, a question for the next Q&A. Why do AMD and Nvidia never put proper cooling on reference cards? It always is a disappointment for us gamers that we have to wait another month, at least, before the good graphics cards become available. Look for example at those Vega-cards. I don't care much about clocking it a bit higher or lower but the noise, that is a big problem. Are AMD and Nvidia not willing to invest in it because they want the price to be as low as possible or are they being nice to companies like Sapphire, EVGA.

An addition to Brad his answer on AMD getting that contract with the department of energy of the USA, an important detail is that AMD also gets a big bag of money (out of my head $40 million) for software development which AMD will basically use to strengthen their ROCm (AMD's CUDA equivalence but then open source. That is huge! It makers their 'professional' cards more competitive. Of course AMD needs to develop software which Oakridge can use but that software will be useful in general.

buildzoid is saying that all the x570 boards will need chipset fans. something about them makes them all need a fan in certain workloads. at least thats what he said. thats why the guy said that. boards without the fan are just going to be left to throttle. thats why the guy asked about it. my guess would be pcie 4 support will make it hot when maxing out a pcie 4 connection. but that wont happen often. but who knows. but buildzoid said he heard that they would all be that way

Tum_apisak ) found an engineering sample of the 16 core 32 thread Ryzen processor, the base clock was I think 3. 3 and boost was I think 3. 8, but it was an engineering sample. It's out there, just a matter of when it hits the market. A 12 core/ 24 thread was also found in the wild, the rumor was that these chips were being sent to motherboard manufacturers to test.

Nvidia might talk about their artificial intelligence chips at computex. They could also talk about the 1650 TI and it wouldn't surprise me if they released another Titan type card. Maybe a RTX 2080 TI without the ray tracing cores but with more cuda cores. I'm just saying it wouldn't surprise me if they showed something interesting.
