ESA, rping the wish of the common gaming citizen and anti consumer. They're re building the blatancy level of what the wars have been long ago. The rich making rules on whims. The rich make the rules, they don't get punished as they can change the rules on whims, and the average citizens. They are blatantly against the commoner, ignore them, and in such a mass level of percentage that revolution is over due as dictated by history. It's not about advocating a rise up un intended and much more than talking, but through the fact they show that the reasonable never works, the unreasonable becomes the next reasonable. That's when revolutionary related acts kick in. No matter what sweet smelling future you want to push, when it keeps looking worse for the greater whole, you force them to become fanatical if that's all that ever works.
ESA, you should be concerned right now. Very much so. Again this is not be advocating nor threatening. This is relaying the warnings from history. It's a future history made obvious you will not be on the right side of, and the more people realize that as you make them lose massively in their life time, you will now share similar fates as SONY in 2027, and people themselves shouldn't be targeted for pointing out the obvious because the rich have the power with lawyers to twist a warning into something it's not, simply because it's news you don't want people to see or hear in a public address.
I simply hoped for a bit better in my final days where I'm living off of savings to my inevitable doom as being un officially disabled as well as a pale male commoner remains un demanded in the work force and more and more things people can unharmingly do in their own corners is dubbed illegal business while we have gambling ads forced down our throats daily. I will simply do what I can do with what I have left, or authority lapdogs come for my remains of life for simply speaking on what obviously comes by the hands of so many others, and very soon.

Wouldn't their argument against private servers make the way Microsoft is doing it the best Provide the server file after they have bought the game and require everyone who logs onto the server to have legally bought the game from the publisher which at this time is Microsoft You do get all the filters Microsoft builds into the server file they provide to start your own private server that are kind of require to always have active otherwise the user will be banned as it is a client side thing not a server side thing for word filters it seems. The filter happens on both ends. The client that sent it and the client that receives it. Now is that the method used in modern online gaming Most likely no and it is handled on their server not your machine but it is the method used by Minecraft servers including the Microsoft hosted servers.
The problem the ESA is having is with a buy to own model and it comes with the server software or link to where to obtain the server software or you can buy the server software then you get into the publisher who made the game might not be the same company hosting the game and not in full control of everything done in the game. Games like Minecraft will be dead then you have entire game catalogs like Fortnite islands and ROBLOX that are just another's IP used hosted on another server by another name. People have remade Halo 1 in both of those. People have remade Command and Conquer in both of them. Etc. it is more free to create in them as they are entire game engines instead of a creative space like the procedural generation map of minecraft.
Do even a little digging into how Minecraft works and these private servers drive sells for the game's owner. Why You need to own the game to play the game on the server files provided.
I think their problem is they can't make everything into a mircotransaction when the majority of the game is user generated instead of a world made for them.

if you can't keep track of whether or not you've used a quote in your video, then maybe the video is too long for public consumption
also, Pirate Software did NOT say he was against the SPIRIT of the Stop Killing Games movement, but rather, that is was a BAD idea as it was written, because smaller game companies (like HIS OWN, and other single-man operations) could not AFFORD to rewrite their code at the end of life. some of these smaller companies spend DECADES writing code by themselves, just to make a single game, unlike EA, who can just throw money at millions of coders to push out equivalent content in MONTHS.
the fact that you (and others) CONTINUALLY misrepresent what PirateSoftware has said just shows how sensationalistic your videos are trying to be, rather than factual news.
i am very much AGAINST companies shutting down online games when there is a simple solution to it, but FORCING ALL game companies to do something which costs them tons of money and time to accomplish is just asking for too much from one-man outfits. maybe it would have been better to put a clause like if the game has so many sales or if the game has made so much money. that i could stand behind. if the game made you RICH, you should be held to a standard of making it playable. some companies just make it open-source after the fact, but others have proprietary code they don't want others to see, such as with private information in it.

they do realise that no one is making money selling copies of pirated games. maybe from ad revenue on the host site, but its not like they are selling iffy copies of ps1 games out the back of their car for a quid a pop. and if gam,es companies actually made decent games and not monetised slop, then more people would be willing to buy. interesting story. Game of Thrones creators actually THANKED PIRACY for DVD sales, because people would pirate it, binge it, love TF out of it,a nd then want to own it. and its the same withgames. i pirate them, and if they are good i want to own them. we live in a world of slop and im not wasting time and money on something that is just gonna suck. so i try before i buy, and if its good i buy it like resi 7, or Soma or Final Fantasy games, all on PHYSICAL COPIES SO I CAN PUT THEM ON A SHELF AND IN A HUNDRED YEQARS STILL BE ABLE TO PLAY THE BLOODY THINGS. unless the discs degrade, but then guess what THATS WHERE PIRACY COMES AND SAVES THE DAY because it will likely still be the only thing actually preserving videogames. so many games have been lost by companies but preserved by piracy that even Playstation uses emulat6ors on its machines for some of its classics. that tech came from pirates bro. this sh!t is asbout nothing but greed man. its why indie is kicking ass, because theycare more about the actual games a lot of them. now who wants the soapbox to stand on the corner with next

I've been a pirate criminal since Commodore 64 era, and my career stated at age of 6, what is 41 years happily notoric copied copyright content since then with good concience, like a psychopath would have done it. But I bought alot of games since that time too, and I dont regret any purchases either. I have 3 minecraft accounts, and I bought all three of them. In the public Minecraft Client it says Multiplayer, and I can insert whatever address in there to log into any server. - Since I'm pirate with 41 years on illegal piracy actions, then I should know what that is.. well this isnt it. The microsoft lawyer talking about piracy I can assume never have played Minecraft, like ever. In court we call that shit friction, and I assume the issue with piracy coming up to the court have other underlying aspects to it than a bukkit server. I will also assume a such copyright lawyer also use friction to frame anything, with knowledge or not, is pirate actions, and everyone who actually bought the game, and clicked Multiplayer are to be considered a criminal and should be inprisoned to up to 20 years in jail. Yeah.. I went to court once in a private matter not pirate matter, and the key part is to raise an issue, let the oposit side make a frictions, and when they are done, mop the floor with the douchebags.

look, I can't say I'm a fan of GN's pivot from posting reliable benchmark scores and testing to this long form soapbox ranting, but there's not a lot going on and you gotta keep the lights on... but if you're gonna do this how about doing it right PC gaming has long been plagues bu business models of companies like EA who drain players wallets on DLC, subscriptions, and locked off servers. As a leader in the PC gaming community, you have a chance to point gamers towards a more healthy and sustainable game industry, MVG recently made a video talking about this very thing and it's fantastic. PC gaming need not be solely about high end gear and upgrades. fact is gaming itself has not had a 'generational jump' in 15 years, since 3D gaming is a solved problem, there is virtually no gameplay design challenge that can't be implemented on modern PC or recent console hardware.
Programmers have gotten lazy in the past couple of decades, there's plenty of optimization can be got out of out existing gear. Valve know it, steambox spec is powerful but modest in desktop PC terms, PC games are gonna target that spec anyway going forward given the state of things. As a Culture PC gamers gotta join together and reward the type of games that give joy without robbing us blind.

I agree that its not great but at the same time I totally disagree with the refund if it's failed to patch. What if the game was actually heavily AI based. You provide the game then shutdown the server eventually when the costs of hosting it no longer justify running the server. The only issue is that now you have to release a patch (which on some games) will be impossible to do or release custom server stuff (which might not be possible, especially if it shared things with other games).
What I think should happen is the documentation on how the server communicates should be a reasonable option as well which would allow then the community to create their own software that will interface with it and that the game itself should be considered abandoned ware where people can write their own stuff for it (not using assets or distributing it, but allow the autonomy of using it)

I'm surprised to see notch respond to this, as I thought he kinda... disappeared or something. - I mean, I don't follow him or Minecraft-stuff (even though I love the game) that closely, but I thought he had retreated from the public eye. - Maybe that was the case and sometimes he comes out when something serious like this happens. - So I'm glad he came out to speak out against this crap, even if he has no pull in terms of making things happen, at least he can stand for what's right. - And all this around one of the most wholesome games and studios you could find in this pretty toxic industry.

Fun fact : if you are still wasting your day playing video games in 2026 your a loser. This is a non issue because you shouldn't even be wasting the time for the dopamine rush anyways as no games are made to be hard like old ones were, and all are tailored now to microtransaction you into oblivion. What's even sadder is that I would smoke most of you in any nes cart and yet you still cling to the false hope of being gamers AND I can see from 10 miles away that no games are even games anymore to not bother - yet here y'all are crying over a brick breaker pffff.

They ship the hosting server file in order to keep the franchise alive. Let it grow organically without putting any effort. Once its big enough and they see a potential to revenue they want to execute a hostile takeover under premise of piracy and safety violations.
Those big corporations love products that grow on their own, by the dedicated fanbase. But they want to have the last saying who gets to capitalize on it once some bigger cash numbers start showing up.

this is the dumbest thing I have ever seen. So me and my friends are criminals for hosting our own ARK servers after spending tons of money on the game and dlc on multiple platforms so we can actually enjoy the game with out pvp griefing or worse alone with server issues in general which ARK always has. Mind you buying the game gives u access to this WOW are they literally the epitome of uninformed. Sure its diff game but literally exact same thing.

BuT WHat aBOUT tHE CHiLdREN is what you get when you organize a society around the female point of view aka. orient it gynocentric instead of malecentric(which by association with patriarchy already includes women to a greater degree than men) how its supposed to be like even women start admitting. Check Heather Mac Donald or Helen Andrews on the feminization of masculine institutions.
That's what we get for having no backbone.

If buying isn't owning, piracy isn't stealing! The Auto Market is under attack, and the gaming Industry is under attack. and whatever else there is. Everything we all grew up doing is pretty much under attack! There is one solution to make CEO's learn a thing or two, and stop supporting them. Want prices to come down Stop buying! This didn't come out to Blizzard, put charges on the private server Project Ascension...

That part of the gaming industry wants total control over their product even after we have paid for it. They intend to destroy full product ownership.
But we - as gamers - have total control over our wallets. Boycot is our biggest weapon and we can aim it very selective. Dont buy new games from companies that follow this policy. Play the stuff from you pile of shame. Do this for 6 months and this topic is history.

So they are tying to make game servers not hosted by the game company itself illegal this directly goes against stop killing games movement and right to repair this is illegal arrest everyone in the room. Even if the game didn't allow servers for said game soon the law should state that they must either allow the servers to be created or give them out instead of shutting down the servers.

I get it, game publishers want to make money and their job is to get it from gamers any which way they can. The real issue is whether the politicians will do their job, which is to represent the people, and that means they should be looking to do the best for consumers first, because we are the majority. Of course, where their funding comes from, may suggest otherwise.

If a company is deciding to take their games offline due to them no longer being profitable... how are they losing money on a game that they no longer want to support
If they make it so people can privately host (even if just locally on their own machine) - it means they can still legally sell a playable game without having to spend any money to support it anymore.

Part of the reason they are making this argument is because the archival journalists that gather up censored news articles that get pulled archive them on private minecraft servers to help them keep copies of that data out of the hands of the people wanting to censor it. This is just the latest push to prevent accurate journalism in the united states and abroad
