Gordon explains the difference between Optane Memory, Optane drives, Optane DC Persistent Memory, and Intel's new Optane Memory H10 SSD Andrei: Thank you for the clarifications! I did not care about Intel products recently (after being burned with Xeon Phi Knights Landing, so this was something that I really did not know.
What surprises me is that there is still no non-volatile RAM for consumers. Even some low(er)-end motherboards, like the Asrock X370 Killer SLI/AC have NV-RAM options in the BIOS since launch, more than 2 years ago. At that time, I searched for NV-RAM and only found some expensive server modules and even now, there isn't anything cheaper. I don't know if the Optane DIMM is DDR4 NV-DIMM-F or NV-DIMM-N, if it is Intel chipset specific or if it works with AMD, etc.

Cool. Thanks. So I guess it's really not essential for us to get Optane anything right now as just normal regular desktop users? Is it worth spending the money to get the optane SSD drive?

Hey, stop spying on me!
Just today I discussed this mess with a friend and we both agreed that we are totally confused.
So thanks for this explanation!
