Apple silicon is intriguing. I'd like a macbook for field use when I don't have power available. Right now I have to carry a power bank for my XPS 15 if I'm working somewhere without power.
Although an 8GB/256GB config would probably work, it really feels like I'd be buying quickly outdated tech with a lot lower resale value.
If they'd cut their upgrade prices in half like a sane OEM, they'd probably have a new customer. Or if they'd offer an NVMe slot, I'd just need to upgrade the RAM. A 50 1TB SSD would be fine for additional storage.

I wonder if Intel has a 7d chess plan to slowly release GPU updates with nice uplifts so they are constantly being brought up with regards to positive driver news in videos like this. When BM releases, plenty of people will have that memory of having seen Intel crush it in the past years with optimizations. Some would argue that would have a bad impact because of the initial launch. I would remind you that there was not a lot of inventory so they weren't planning on making any money on the first generation release.

Apple claims that their 8gb of mem is equal to 16gb on PC since apple's system architecture compresses and makes a more efficient use of memory. I would like to see GN do an apples to oranges comparison for us PC nerds that own an iphone to see how true that is when using adobe products for professional use. I really can't see how doing raw 4k video editing with any concurrent software running would not use less than 8gb.

I love you, Steve, but you're always so off the mark and hugely dismissive whenever it comes to Apple. Remember that the RAM is unified, it's far, far faster than any classic set up and is shared. The GPU has direct access to it too, so there's no shuffling between the CPU, RAM and VRAM to do things. It just goes where it needs to go. Its essentially double the stated figure in classic terms.

Baldur's Gate showing how not to launch a game. Well over a month after launch and they have done well over 2,000 fixes... This game was in testing for more than 2 years and they still launched it with over 2,000 bugs... Why the hell would you praise this? Lol.

The Intel efforts to actually support their GPUs makes me hopeful for the future, I am genuinely interested in going team blue for my next gpu assuming it makes sense from a price to performance standpoint.

I don't even mind APPROPRIATE ads. On Gamer's Nexus, let's see computer (and parts) manufacturer's ads, which make sense. I don't want to see ads for Vagisil, cross-country skis, and whole-grain rice.

High hopes for Intel's 2nd gen of cards, if they keep making progress on their drivers we might finally have a competitor to break the AMD/Nvidia good, but way too expensive stranglehold on the market.

Go ahead and actually USE a modern Mac with 8GB of RAM and see how it feels. My Macbook is faster in general desktop multitasking usage than my 5800X3D + 64GB DDR4 system is.

Dude, a fast website without ads and video auto load in a floating banner is like 15 years beyond current trends, official web boomer territory. What's wrong with you?

When I hear about a conductive thermal interface, I want to firmly shake the neck of its developer and be happy for the repairmen who will have more work

I get it learning the new web. Last time I built a website you had to enter old school HTML code by hand, breaks and all. The new site looks great!

steve Apple os has its roots in Unix/ Linux not Windows. So memory management works way different so memory works not like windows
