Impressive Quality: Hyte Y60 Case Review & Benchmarks vs. O11 Dynamic

This is one of the most unique cases we've reviewed in a while. The Hyte Y60 is of high build quality, but also missteps in several key ways. Still, the Y60 does new things in the case market. Hyte is owned by iBUYPOWER, but the difference is that the Hyte team is actually making things that - thus far - don't fall apart if they're looked at wrong. Hyte has to establish itself on its own brand credibility and it started with the Revolt 3. Now, Hyte is selling the Y60 ATX case for water cooling builds (although air cooling builds can also work here). There are several potential pitfalls or shortcomings in the case for specific builds, but as long as you choose the right parts to synergize with it and build in the correct order, the Hyte Y60 makes for an interesting and unique case. Build quality was overall excellent, with shortcomings mostly in filters, airflow, and build order (or ease of installation). Even with those negatives, the Y60 is one of the best ATX cases we've reviewed lately.

This would be Ideal for an ITX build . . . .
Seriously though, I really do like this case design. Not too thrilled about the expansion card situation. Graphics cards are designed to fit into an expansion slot, horizontally, making the cooling fans 'hang' from the bottom of the GPUs shroud. When those fans pull air through themselves, they are also pulling down on their bearings, loading them properly. When you mount your GPU in any other configuration (vertical) the weight of the fans loads the bearings not just on their side, but also slightly offset from the center of load on the bearing. This greatly reduces the fan bearings life. This is why the fans on cards in mining rigs fail so frequently and the cards overheat.
Just a theory I have . . . . maybe it's something you guys can test with the new equipment you have.
Have a nice day. Greetings from Alaska.

For the quality 200 is not ridiculous. But the big issue to me is that it's not a versatile case. Not only because of the fact that it's not suitable for air cooling and multiple GPUs or even single big GPU. You can't have it placed with the side panel against the wall. It's not designed to be placed on the floor with this bottom mounted power button (something so simple yet so important!). It's space-constrained despite having lots of empty space one the inside. And you can't really brute force yourself out of the poor thermal situation just by adding more radiators and fans. It's a shame because I'm a big fan of the aesthetics and build quality. Hopefully there will be a bigger Y70?

I feel like the best way to decide wether a case is good or not is to average the opinions from Steve (usually negative) and those from Jay (usually positive) haha. Jay loved the case design for having lots of grills but here Steve is basically saying the holes are mostly blocked. That means it may not be the best for extreme overclocking but should be more than enough for a more regular kind of usage, while still having a cool design.

To me, the complete disregard for the idea that users will use the other slots in their atx motherboard is simply unacceptable for me and disqualifies this case as an option for me in the future sadly real shame because of this want the case it would be a very serious consideration to many i think
EDIT: YOU CAN T EVEN USE THE LOW PROFILE SLOTS BECAUSE THE RISER IS TOO SHORT AND COVERS THEM.

I feel like perhaps this case signifies a need for a standardized water cooling test to better represent cases like this for actual buyers of cases like this what the case will be like. I suppose pointing this out helps somewhat but seeing a full build inside one even if just clcs for both gpu and cpu, I feel, could be an improvement to this type of review.

I'd love to see you guys do a review for a Cougar case, I really enjoy my MX330-G Air but I have a friend who basically will ignore brands that GN don't cover that much or don't have a GN stamp of approval. Really any case of theirs would be nice to see though, always interested in you looking at more brands to compare quality against.

Not wholly sold on the aesthetic. Rather too much plastic and restrictive of airflow to boot. This red version looks a lot better than I thought it would, but I think it highlights the plastic; and not in a flattering way. A good solid start though with the build quality. Bring on v.2; Hyte got a passing grade where it matters.

iBuyPower had some of the worst customer service I experienced in my career in IT. I had a customer pay me literally hundreds of dollars to try to get the company to RMA a defective computer because they couldn't manage it themselves. It was madness freaking with the runaround and dead end phone extensions they sent me to.

It s a looks focused case. A real shame that they didn t make a removable bracket for the PCI E expansion slots so you could have one bracket for this vertical mount and one bracket for normal horizontal. I know it would cost more but when the darn thing is already 200ish you might as well do it and bump it up another 10

I got curious and took a look at the dimensions compared to the 011D. (thinking that the Y60 would be a little narrower with its pcie slot setup). And somehow its listed as being wider than an 011D (285 mm on the y60 vs 272mm on the 011D). Are these numbers correct?, and if they are what takes up all that space?
