I almost bought as well. There was a 3080 at actual original MSRP, and a 6900XT that would be at MSRP once your received your mail in rebate. But they are still pricey so I passed. Yes there was other more affordable models (mid tier) also at close to MSRP, but these do not give me enough of an increase performance over my 2080 Super (one of better models), to justify an upgrade. I will wait probably until 4000 and 7000 series have been on the market for a year and can actually be had for there MSRP. I am hoping by then the mid tier will be a worth while upgrade and I can avoid the elite tiers altogether as they have become to high priced. I remember when you could get a top tier GPU for 500. Yes, I know, inflation, but even if you do inflation calculations, they are still over priced. Partly due to current circumstances, but partly because of greed.

Leave politics out of computer hardware. When will we see your Yemeni Aid T-Shirt or ones for all the depleted uranium affected children and animals in Iraq, or that Libyan 'stop slavery now' shirt etc etc etc etc. Fed up with hearing 'I follow the latest thing my government tells me to', I do not expect to hear it when it comes to computer hardware, criticise pollution, and the need for Right to Repair, but leave manufactured narratives to the legacy media and Govern-Ments.

correct me if im wrong, but isnt dell working with intel/the standards board to make this standard? also my crappy knowledge here may be showing, but isn't sodim kind of crap compared to what dell is doing? I mean its possible dell makes this crap, but they are trying to fix a legitimate problem and are trying to make it a standard rather than just proprietary to them.

I can still buy part of GPU shipment in form of a box with 80 GPUs, but I can't buy one GPU in most stores where I live. Yes, it's scalpers heaven because why would store brand loose time selling one by one when they can just sell all at once?! There is no reason to do business any other way. Reputation damage? Sure, rename the stores later and done.

So Dell is basically adding yet another proprietary thing that can only be upgraded by buying from them. Besides getting ripped off that's just another reason to avoid Dell. Hell, prebuilts in general as it's pretty easy to build your own these days and save 10-20% in costs, or more if it's from Alienware.

In terms of availability, depending on how flexible you are willing to be, someone is almost guaranteed to baghold a bunch of GPUs and have to sell at a discount.
The obvious issue is that this requires you to be fast and willing to risk having to buy something that might be over your initial budget.

One cool thing about the RX6400 is that some versions of it are a singe slot card. The only single slot cards these days are the Quadro cards from Nvidia that comes to my mind. Also there is no overclocking for the RX6400 either.

At half the price the 6400 would've been a slightly better but worse in some ways, GT 1030 replacement/successor. We'll probably see it cheap in the future where it'll be a good option for 13100 and 14100 ultra budget builds.
