About the Steam Hardware Survey. Disregarding the usual arguments, what does 8 cpus mean? Is 4/8 also 8? Because a virtual machine will count every thread as 1 cpu-core. If 8 cpus is including the 4/8 cpus then the number of people with a quadcore-CPU might be higher. As a gamer I would love to see most gamers have 8/16, then developers might optimize for that. As a Linux-user I can tell that many Linux-users who game use Windows for gaming. Many of them do that because of DRM and anti-cheat (mostly some multiplayer games), many of them do it because they lack knowledge on how to make Linux work well for gaming and for some games there still are performance-problems.

Intro & outro - I don't think it's technology thing, I think Andrew is more experienced now that he can make it look good and render faster, it's a very steep learning curve but all of us 3D artists went through the refinements necessary to weigh the balance between visual quality and render speed. I used to think it was all technology until I loaded one of my old scenes from 2006 into 2019 3ds max and it rendered just as poorly and slowly as it did back then (about 2hrs45m per 1280x720 32bpp frame) on the brand new version of software and up to date hardware. Turns out it wasn't my AthlonXP 2200+ with 1 GB DDR, it was me all along...

really find it hard to believe that such a highly automated process like chip fabbing actually has any issue with local labor costs considering the workfoces are all highly skilled labor in general. the environmental issues with chip fabbing need addresses but this seems like panhandling really, especially when TSMC doesn't have issues with building fabs outside of asia, and there are plenty of fabs outside the region on older nodes, its just once again businesses being addicted to south east asia as the apparent only choice for where to build anything

Our german goverment has in the past done everything to make all tech manufacturers go away or die. The infrastructure of the internet is super bad ( due to the love of the Telekom in copper). We had a ton of awesome tech companies with own chip fabs... Extreme taxes and way too much paperwork results in non profitable businesses. We degraded from a high tech country to just another place in the EU. There was a time when i was proud of germany... Now we just have cheating car manufacurers and the goverment protects them... Lets say... Its difficult.

It just is a huge security problem on Windows that companies make the user download software to set the RGB. There is not really any reason for it, it could just be built in into the hardware. It costs a little bit more but not much and people who want RGB pay for it anyway. Run that RGB on your hardware and you don't lose any performance for other tasks due to RGB, however slightly it is. I myself don't want any RGB on my products but sadly I do have RGB on my keyboard (Strafe Red) and mouse (Logitech).

I'm probably in the minority on this, but I feel as though the blue lighting is a bit too harsh for the intro and the section at 1:40/outro compared to how dark everything else is. It's kinda harsh, and would likely be pretty hard on the eyes at night, or any other time without much ambient light. It kinda looks like if you forced a game's brightness or gamma up to 2.0/200% instead of it's normal cap of, say, 1.0/100%, at least to me. Besides that, I think it looks pretty cool.

Yes would like to see more behind the scenes stuff, especially interested in real world computational differences (rendering for eg) between different machines.
Also re Steam - I'm sure I'm in a tiny minority but while I wouldn't dream of daily driving Windows OS, nor would I dream of playing games on anything else. That it's technically possible to run games on Mac and Linux, doesn't really make it a great idea when it's so easy to dual boot OS's these days.

I was kind of hoping my new computer would get included in the steam hardware survey since I had a Ryzen 5900x and a Geforce 780. I thought it might raise a few eyebrows to see such an odd combo like that. But no longer. I have a 3070 now.

3:40 Make sure the program is straight from the authour. This should be rather easy for open-source freeware since the code is publicly accessible.
Also, don't bank with cell phones. Mobile phones are notorious for being insecure when online banking, so it's best to call in when banking with a phone or simply use a computer for online banking.

1) TSMC is screwed right now in part because of the serious drought in Taiwan, a place that typically has several typhoons per year.
2) TSMC is going to build mega fabs in ARIZONA, a place famously known for having no extra water. A literal desert.
