Siang Ki Khao Tom Pla ) has been in business for over 90 years Siang Ki Khao Tom Pla ) - For many years now Ive wanted to eat at Bangkoks Siang Ki Khao Tom Pla, an old Thai Chinese restaurants in Bangkoks Chinatown thats known for serving fish rice soup. One of the most notable aspects of the place is that its been in business in the same location for over 90 years, and the second generation is still cooking and in charge of the restaurant. Unfortunately, I was pretty sad that they didnt have oysters the day I went - the owner mentioned to me that they werent fresh so they werent going to sell them. But that also speaks highly of the restaurant - they wont serve anything thats not fresh. Pomfret rice soup ) - This is their signature Thai Chinese rice soup with pomfret fish. Its perfect in every way, one of the most soothing bowls of food you can find. Barramundi rice soup ) - Another version they make is fish rice soup with barramundi fish. Pork rice soup ) - Finally, something you have to order is their pork and rice, which is salty and delicious. Siang Ki Khao Tom Pla ) is quite expensive, but the quality is fantastic, and one of the best things about eating here is that youre eating at a living museum, a piece of Bangkok culinary history

Hey Mark, love your videos and think you are a genuinely lovely guy, but I'd really love to see more vegetarian and vegan foods. I love Thai food, and living in Bangkok, I love the culture and atmosphere surrounding street food, however it seems really good veggie options are difficult to come by I've had to stop watching your videos now because I'm not a fully fledged vegetarian

Cheers, Mark. I love your commentary and recipes that you choose to share with us. I am so hungry for Indo-Thai food. My Mam was born in Indonesia and she always missed the dishes that her cook used to make as well as the street food that she told us was so amazing, and, watching you, all the way from Canada, is the next best thing to being there in that part of the world

Yes this is teochew fish soup, we called it fish porridge in west borneo, pontianak city, we used to add a pork cooked with soysauce, we call it seng tiam de, we take the sauce and the meat top it over the sauce, add garlic oil, and 1/2 boiled eggs, this is a super dish when rainy season, really super delicious.

Im a true fisherman, and you just inspired me. I often live of fish, but i never tasted a fish soup. The way Thai do it is probably the way im gonna go. Boil fish seperately, not in the soup it self. Thank you Thailand. You just saved me from making something i doub my dog would eat.

Even very old man and no class restaurant know the important fresh ingredient. I don mind seat very old or at street as long their maintain freshness of the food. Unlike restaurant at kitchen nightmare reality show, all of them screw up when come to freshness of the ingredient.

Ohhhh MAN That soup looked amazing I could eat something like that EVERY DAY Yum. : D So cool too, that a Mom n Pop, restaurant will NOT sell garbage food, just to make a few bucks. BIG thumbs up THAT'S why they've been around almost 100 years, and will be, way past that. _
