A True Dumpling Feast at LA's Dumpling House K-Town

Theres nothing like the way that Koreans prepare dumplings. Yes, a lot of the methodology and some of the ingredients come from Chinese cuisine, but Koreans use their own unique style and technique. This week, K-Town host Matthew Kang dives into every kind of dumpling at Dumpling House in Los Angeles. Though the English name is the rather straightforward Dumpling House, the Korean name of this place literally means Dumpling Heaven

viewers are irritated because of how he presents the content. In a lot of his videos he often claims that the presented item is the korean answer to this ethnic dish or that ethnic dish, and his mannerism often suggest that the korean version is superior. He claims things and calls it korean but the truth is that other cultures uses the same ingredients in their own cuisine. Korean cuisine is unique but it also draws a lot of influence from dishes of other cultures, but that point is never brought up.

Why can't people from Asian cultures get along amongst each other? Sure Latin American countries have their differences, but we are always there for each other when we need help. Just because in El Salvador or in Guatemala or in any other Latin American country they eat tamales, Mexicans never say oh you copied us! It's whatever. Learn to cooperate, celebrate your similarities and respect each other in these hard times.

I really can't look at dumplings or Asian pastries of any kind and not associate that with Chinese cuisine. If you're a neighbor of China, almost all your dishes originate from there, lol They were too advanced early. Spice blends and flavor combinations, I can see it being a Korean style. You don't really get that through a camera though. Coming from a dude that has nothing to do with these nationalities.

Good video. I think Chinese people get annoyed when other cultures claim something as distinctly their own, when it was inspired or originated from China. Dumplings, noodles, ramen, are all examples of dishes that started out in China. Food crosses cultures and that's awesome. But perhaps Chinese just feel that they deserve more credit?

This place is the best. We stop here whenever we're in the area for big dumplings on the go. The owner lady is super sweet and always recognizes us when we come. It's just her and her husband that run the place. Was there last night and brought some home for lunch today: ) if you're ever in the area you should definitely visit.

Dumplings is like a universal word to describe the food. Each country has their own name lol chill guys. Like in china its called xiao long bao, gyoza in Japanese, momo is nepal etc. But dumplings is english language as a universal word. Everyone knows even this guy knows it originated in china.

Almost every country in East Asia and SE Asia are influenced by China because that's where the center is and where the Asian culture comes from. Only when it comes to the Koreans, they claim as if they invented all their things which is untrue and embarrassing. Simply annoying.

NO STEAM MANDU! THAT SHOULD BE A CRIME! They are similar to the boiled one except because they have been steamed and once they leave the steamer the heat dries out their skin giving it a little chewy and tight skin. It is AMAZING. My favorite of all the korean Mandus.

Ok. I want to try this place out. The last several months I went to ktownla, the restaurants and cafes were full of Chinese peeps. In fact, my friend and I were the only Korean customers there, besides the servers. Where are the Koreans hanging out at!

The wrapper is a little tough here. If you're use to Chinese dumplings, you have to adjust your expectations coming here. I've been here and it's not particularly bad, but it's an okay place. I prefer Chinese dumplings and it's what I'm use to.
