The fine people at Jackbox Games gave us a sneak peak at Weapons Drawn, a murder mystery mashup of hidden roll mechanics and drawing game. Everyone's a murderer AND detective, it's very efficient. In Weapons Drawn, we're trying to hide our secret calling cards in the weapons we draw, and then use those weapons to. well. Watch on!

So from what I can gather:
Everyone names an accomplice and draws two weapons from prompts with the same random letter from their name in it; the Unused Weapon and the Murder Weapon
When it's time to murder, the murderers have to figure out who an accomplice was named by to kill the accomplice.
However, their chosen murder weapon is left at the scene, and when it's time to investigate, players choose between two of the cases to solve one.
Everyone shows their weapons, and the murderers show their unused weapon.
The Investgators have to either link the letter in a murder weapon to someone or notice a common letter between someone's unused weapon, and the murder weapon.
I'm guessing at this point that if the murderer is caught, the murder weapon is discarded, and the murderer draws a new weapon to use.
If I'm wrong about any of this, feel free to correct me: ]

This is the first time Overboard has done a poor job explaining how the game works. I was confused for a while on what was happening and the skipping of any tutorial and jumping around didn't help. A rare miss for this series.

This game is fun, and cute, but seems a bit unnecessarily complicated. Also the games timer is really fast. I also am a bit sad the video edited out the intro, the outro song, and left the volume too low.

I noticed the random capital Es in the captions, and after Josh's Steiner Math from last game time and finding out about the new WWE champion, I have a feeling those were there to celebrate Big E.

Polygang! (iykyk)
I love overboard: ) weird that the accomplices' only purpose seems to be getting murdered? Accomplice seems like an odd thing to call a victim.

I've watched the explanation twice and tried reading all of the comments that attempt to clarify things, and I STILL don't really get what's happening lmao

I kinda wish Polygon had just let the game explain itself, because the Jackbox writers have proven themselves quite able to get the rules across.

anybody else need to watch them play in order to understand the games, but still sit through Clayton's explanation, just to be supportive?
reply

the polly pals have all shown an incredible lack of basic deductive reasoning or possibly i just really, really didn't understand this game

This game might introduce name metas, trying to sneak easy letters into their name. Anyways, LOLCAT is the best name for Weapons Drawn

i think everyone should know that whenever the dude with the bird on his shoulder is found guilty, the bird gets evil eyes too.

This game has a great aesthetic but feels very much like one of those games you really can't get into unless you're playing it

I think the Vertices would make a good team name because together, they make a Polygon.
Or Piss Patrol. Whatever ya-ll prefer

The cursive S I learned in school was literally just a normal S that the next letter would attach to at the bottom right.

They Are All Talking So Damn Much I Can't Hear The Game Explaining What Going On.
Whoever Edited This Shouldn't Get Paid

-Has anyone played a murder mystery party? -

Had to look at a newer video. But I see Simone is still here so wont being watching any videos with her in it.

This game is very confusing to watch, especially if you can't see the prompts/process that the players see: /

If you don't get any murders, you might as well leave and save yourself a half-hour. Literal Z-tier game.
