Okay respectfully there are lots of dinosaur games where you shoot up dinosaurs for sure like Primal Carnage and Second Extinction, but there are also many other dinosaur games that truly are the best of the best.
In Jurassic World Evolution and Jurassic World Evolution 2, you play as a park builder for InGen Technologies to make your own actual Jurassic World with your imagination in either an Island environment like Jurassic World-s home park Isla Nublar, or as the second installment of the game JWE2 you get to put the dinosaurs brought back to life in different environments all around the world.
There also are many different titles that take players to dinosaur environments as the actual dinosaurs themselves, such as The Isle and the newly released Path of Titans, where you actually are the dinosaurs in the game and get to survive and live as different species of dinosaurs as you and other players recreate scenarios when these mighty creatures lived on the earth as the dominant landform of a lost world.
There are indeed many shooter games that involve dinosaurs yes, as that is very common with a whole player consumer market that seems addicted to FPS (first person shooter) or any type of shooter games against other players, but there are indeed quite many, and if I dare say so, somewhat educational games that were very created very diligently and insightfully designed with modern scientific theories and statistics on dinosaurs that are out to the public for anyone to play (game ratings restricted respectfully between E for everyone and T for teen and M for Mature) that should be accounted for here respectfully for its creators and the brilliant minds from game developers to the actual scientific team members and input that were put into these games.
And these games definitely speak to the hearts for all of us, between the future paleontology career seekers, to the animal and nature lovers, and of course for all that just truly love dinosaurs that have not been spoken about in this video that should be recognized and does not reflect the views and gameplay of the shooter games involving dinosaurs.

I disagree that the dinosaurs were portrayed as anywhere near -dumb- in both Ark and especially Jurassic World Evolution. Just because they can be tamed or caged doesn't automatically make them dumb. Just as our real life zoos make out animals to be beautiful and smart, Jurassic World Evolution and Ark portray dinosaurs in a very positive light too. I particularly find myself especially gazing at all the dinos in Evolution so much so in an awe inspiring way. The way the music crescendos as each dino comes out of the laboratory and just viewing the entire park in general with the music playing and calm, peaceful ambiance of the scenery going by, the sun, the wind, the various weather, all the organic, authentic animal noises all together makes dinosaurs in Evolution and Ark out to be so, so much more than just -dumb animals. -

On the -dino games being disappointing- I feel similarly as a kid that was really into dragons and pirates (and still like them as media subjects. I can't think of a particularly good game where you have a dragon companion, and very few where you ARE a dragon, mostly being kid-oriented like the Spyro series. Pirate media is worse to find as an adult because I can't think of any finished or lauded games besides the Assassin's Creed one that I bought out of desperation that are geared towards adults, and the only other media series I can think of is the TV show Black Sails (which is, however, very good.

Simone reminds me a lot of a friend I met in Elementary School, my friend always searched for every appearance (and book) of dragons not just being treasure-hoarding monsters, but intelligent beings and even the protagonists in certain cases!
I couldn't possibly watch Simone excitedly jumping up and down on her bed about the idea of riding dinosaurs without a smile on my face! :)

Simone having the BOOKS (I have described to my friends trying to convey how amazing they were but haven-t actually seen in person for a good 20 years) was so intense- nostalgia, yes. jealousy, definitely! but also like a profound relief that they were as detailed, interactive and clever as I remember and that Simone had the same wonderful experience as a kid

THE DREAMER'S GUILD'S -ABOUT- PAGE IS JUST -ABOUT- THE CUTEST THING I'VE EVER READ OH MY GOD
also i knew i knew their name from somewhere, they made I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream? that was actually a pretty great, narratively well-designed adventure game. some problematic elements now, but it was still very good

This could totally be a great adventure game. The challenge in Dinotopia was always in the environments and saving people from themselves, like Lee Crabb. I can see it now. If you forget to go and do the Skybax quest, you can jump off the cliff to your death. If you are rude to the Allasaurs, they will eat you. Etc.

Great video! Were you able to make the babies happy? I never could! How many tries did it take you to get Thundra? Did the Stinkslingers have the right dialog in your version? I think there were different releases of the game, one in 1995 and one in 1996. I-d love to see video of these scenes!

I had never heared of this IP before, it sounds really cool. However what is up with this weird and incorrect asumption that boys always want to fight stuff? I for sure never wanted to and without the hard social push towards combatative behavior it would probably not be neerly as general.

This video unlocked a Core Memory for me. Those books are the first books I can vividly remember being read to me, and they sparked my interest in both dinosaurs, books, and English as a second language.
Didn't play the games, but here's hoping a new Dinotopia will be made!

yeah it just took. i donno until CYBERPUNK to arrive to have full-length roles for major Hollywood actors. and so many just discarded the game for. bugs. missing out on a million great things and historical achievements that the game has done amazingly well.

I feel you on the disappointment in dinosaur games. Two upcoming dino games I'm super hyped for are Paleo Pines, a dinosaur ranching game, and Prehistoric Kingdom, a zoo sim akin to Parkasaurus but with the technicality and realism focus of Planet Zoo.

If there's one development studio I'd love to see take on a Dinotopia game in the present day, it's ZA/UM. The intricate world building and approach to narrative focused gameplay in Disco Elysium would work beautifully with the world of Dinotopia.

I played this when I was a kid! Absolutely loved Dinotopia and read a whole bunch of the books. Knowing that Gurney painted everything by hand showed how much love he put into this world! I even wrote him a letter and got one back!

I grew up with Dinosaur 3D Adventure. I take for granted what my little brain absorbed having access to an entire encyclopedia of dinosaurs (albeit much of it is outdated now) with some pretty decent music.

I completely forgot about Dinotopia: The Sunstone Odyssey. I used to have it on the original XBox a long time ago. As soon as you showed footage of it, I recognized the Health/Mana/WhateverTheOtherThingIs bars

This game was literally my childhood lmao, I completely forgot what it was even called until now, I didn't realize there was a broader dinotopia series, it sounds fantastic though, now I've got to read them!

This is reminding me a LOT of the Muppet Treasure Island FMV game that was released around the same time.
The games had nothing in common except for puppets and video games, but there you go I guess.

I feel like this is the right time for a Powered by the Apocalypse take on an official Dinotopia TTRPG. Plenty of games that involve zero combat these days that would fit.

Still waiting for a game where the dinosaurs like potato chips, play killer riffs on the electric guitar and sometimes use a clever disguise to compete in a dogshow

Hi there, 90's teen here- most of us hated FMV's back then too. It was considered a shortcut and a cheesy way to get us to watch movie studio concepts
