Trying to check the vid,
Proto Man was legitimately made just to be a robot kid.
Mega Man was supposed to be Proto Man, but without running away from battery failure. I'd be most scared of him because he's had to deal with decades of emotional pain and war scars.
Roll is the cute maid.
Pretty sure Fan is just Protagonist Johnson.
Bass was Wily's attempt at making the anti-Mega Man. The copying went so well that the creation kinda disowned the creator.
Zero, while sentient, was made just to be a weapon.
X was given sentience and morality testing so that he wouldn't become an attacking weapon, more of a defensive combatant.
Namagem is basically if you gave Mega Man a yellow twin and then raised him in an abusive household and then made him so jealous of the life he'd want more that he hates it.
Rush is a doggo.
Eddie is the best little weird creature ever, I love him
Tango is a kitty who buzzsaws through stuff in space.
Auto's basically replaced Rock's job as lab assistant due to the blue boi being sent off to war constantly.
Mariachi is a hampter.
Beat is a birb.
Reggae is a birb but with a dysfunctional parent and is an edgy trickster birb.
Treble is edgy Rush.
Tempo's whole thing is that she actually lost a lot of her sentience and emotion after a near-fatal accident. Make sure to call 811 BEFORE you dig.
Vesper Woman is a snarky bee. It's HIP to f-
Mega Girl literally is just a fanfiction cartoon character that existed in one episode of the least-enjoyed adaptation of half of gaming culture at the time.

About Freeze Man being dumb: splitting temperature into hot and cold is actually a fascinating idea. We're talking decreasing entropy of the universe, but there is actually no specific reason why that should be impossible; we just have no idea if it is, and we've yet to observe a single event of entropy decrease, so a lot of people just assume that it's impossible. This promotes the Freeze Man from -dumb- to -possibly the most important entity in _existence-, _ because he can defeat the Heat Death of the Universe, all while being scientifically feasible.
One way it could be possible is smashing molecules in a certain controlled way, then sorting the fast ones away from the slow ones. There's nothing that does that, but mechanically there could be.
Extra: while the second law of thermodynamics states that any closed system tends to maximize entropy, this law is based on observation rather than proof. Assuming it's infallible is practical, but fundamentally incorrect.

Side note on Wind Man who uses wind to help with crops:
I worked for a crop sciences farm for a few years. Planting and harvesting new varieties of certain crops with better traits. One of the concerns is breakage due to bad weather; costing farms a percentage of their yields. I genuinely do no know how much of what I saw was under NDAs, and I do not want them angry with me. But Wind Man would greatly interest agricultural companies. And it would automate a genuinely annoying task that must be done manually over several weeks just to put some numbers on a spreadsheet.

Comment that will never be seen but that's ok:
If you're looking for all your favorites from MM2, they're listed ambiguously under -murder robots- which is objectively untrue in most cases. Yes they were Wily's bots but most were made from Light's creations.
Metal, Air, Bubble, Quick, Heat, Wood, Gemini, and my favorite, Crash. (also: Ring, Skull (yeah that's accurate) Wave, and Napalm, which were Cossack's and hijacked by Wily.
Many others in this enormous catchall.

It makes sense that almost nothing from Mega Man X is here because, while Robot Masters merely attempt to replicate what being a sentient being is like, Reploids are ACTUALLY sentient, just like a human, so that would just be like ranking how shitty the job they chose is. Whereas, Robot Masters were specifically (add it to the counter) built for the jobs they do

So, as someone who knows virtually nothing about MegaMan, with the way you described Freezeman I think he's supposed to be a sentient AC unit. -Splitting average temperatures into hot and cold temperatures- is basically an extremely strange way to describe how they work. Don't ask me how thats supposed to generate power, though.

I'd like to think that Dr. Light (and/or another scientist) thinks of the exterior design before the function, how else would 20XX end up with examples such as Toad Man or Pharaoh Man? -
I see Dr. Light and Dr. Wily sitting at a bar, half-smashed, with a dozen napkin scribblings of different robot masters between them.

i-m pretty sure the whole point of crash test dummies being human shaped is so that we can see what would happen to a person in a crash.
bounce man cannot do this. he is five orbs tied together. WHY MAKE THE ROBOT FEEL PAIN IF A REGULAR DUMMY WORKS BETTER?

creating and being powered by thermal power is recursive, until you take into account he is a sentient robot. he gathers the necessary fuel, converts it into thermal power, then keeps some of it to keep himself running. not impossible, but he will die if he stops doing his job.

I think Hard Man is supposed to help stop out of control heavy duty construction equipment like wreaking balls, steamrollers, or excavators
As well as catching heavy materials that might accidentally fall from a crane or things like that so others don't get hurt

-Chill Man is a recent robot master who was built to stop global warming. And heaven knows we need that. -
-Burner Man was made, and I quote, --to bring harm to natural environments. - Technically not murder, definitely bad. -

I disagree with your placement on RingMan, in Megamix he had a job as a detective, being built for combat doesn-t mean you can-t have practical use, this is true because all of the robot masters in MegaMan 5 were built by Wily specifically for combat

Wind man helping with harvest may be reference to the fact that wind is used to separate out grains. You drop them into the path of wind and the grain proper falls (mostly) straight down while the other bits blow away in the wind.

If anyone ever gets close to creating sentience in machines, they need to see this video to see what humanity will use that ability to do. Because given enough time and people, each and everyone of these ideas will happen.

Question: why are wood, bubble and air man all in the murder robots category? Wood man is literally just a nature preservation robot? And the only difference between air man and wind man is that wind man is a martial artist?

If Freeze Man can create a temperature gradient without doing any work, that is a way to reverse entropy and generate electricity.
If they have to put work in, that's just an air conditioner

Half of the No category sound like they would fit in as costumes in Balan Wonderworld. Maybe Balan Wonderworld took inspiration from the bottom of the Megaman Robot Masters barrel.

The fact that the robot that controls gravity is not listed among the robots that can do things that humans can't do confused the hell out of me so much that I had to write a comment.

I thoroughly disagree on Light Man. Having a mobile light source underground that you could communicate with as a teammate would be indispensable in so many areas of life

Wait guys. maybe this is a great collection of anticapitalist art all about how capitalism doesn't actually create any innovation.
