I used to have Space Invaders, Gorf, Demon Attach, Galaxians (which is actually the prequel to galaga, which came later from the same company as far as I know) and Carnival.
(BTW the bar at the bottom of Carnival is the ammount of bullets you had remaining. You could shut the boxes with 8 in it to get 8 more bullets and regen your bar)
Unfortunately I lend my atari games (About 60) to someone back when I played games on my amiga and never got them back.

The 2600 was my first proper games console as a child and Megamania was my absolute favourite game on it. I still play it to this day, on my MiSTer FPGA setup. Brilliant fun, starts out easy and gets fiendishly hard as you progress. I love how each level has different enemies with different attack patterns and how you can guide your shots, as the projectile flies up the screen, by moving your ship left or right.

Phoenix was always my favorite, in the arcade and on the 2600. Actually, I find I like the 2600 version more for some reason. Spider Fighter I enjoyed too as well as the original Space Invaders. The other games in this video, they're pretty good. Except Carnival, I hated that game with the burning passion of a 1000 suns.

What rulez about Phoenix is that it repeats, and then you write down your score. It has more depth than Space Invaders. It has 4 levels. Used to sit and play it after swim team in the mid-90s listening to the original Foo Fighters album writing down my high scores on a notebook. I was retrogaming back then.

This video almost seems as archaic as when I woke up on Christmas morning 1981 and found my parents had wasted a months wages on a VCS and a Space Invaders cart. Despite being beside myself with joy I knew that bigger and better things were coming due to my burgeoning Galaxian and Phoenix addiction.

Gorf man. LOVE Gorf. the arcade game. Didn't realize there's an Atari 2600 version. Now I must have it! lol
IMO Gorf is the penultimate Space Invaders style game, as it incorporates so many variations and does it well. :)
Still, Galaga is my favorite to play.

-anidude98 It really is fantastic. Good luck on your Atari hunting! And if Goodwill doesn't come through for you, be sure and check in at the forums on AtariAge. It's an excellent site to buy Atari stuff at fantastic prices, and you can be guaranteed it will work.

The Intiellivision version of Demon Attack is more awesome, I have it. I always felt it was just another take on Astrosmash though. Not sure which came first but considering Imagic was a third party and Astrosmash was first party that's always what I thought.

I got Galaxian for my b-day as a young lad! I played it a ton not because it was great but because it was mine, all mine. I am still pretty good at it, we dusted off the atari a few years back and I blew everyone else out of the water.

Hey Lazy, Atari 2600 Space Invaders had the 1st console cheat I found.
With the power Off, hold down the game start button, then power it up.
A game will start, and you will have Double fire power; )
