A Shark Regurgitated A Human Arm. And It Led To A Murder Investigation

It's not every day that human appendages are found in animals. But in 1935, a 14-foot tiger shark regurgitated a human arm at an Australian aquarium and prompted a legal investigation. The shark was caught by a fisherman when it got tangled in his line, and the animal was brought it to the Coogee Aquarium Baths for show. And what a show it turned out to be. The mangled arm was vomited out along with a bird and a rat, and investigators were immediately called to the scene

I go to the hook every day in Santa Cruz and we had a shark attack on the other side of Monterey Bay at Pacific Grove and then one over here at Manrisa State Park we call it shark park. Its funny but the guy was only 26 and died. The other one amazingly got rescued by a couple on their anniversary vacation and a surfer named Heath and they saved him. The couple paddled towards the attacked man into an area of blood and shark. Great white shark he was bitten in the torso the shoulder and leg. There is a lot of wild life in California. Whether its a panther or rattle snake or shark one must always stay aware. Yes I still swim on my side of the kelp.

It's always said that being killed by a shark is very rare, something akin to being hit by lightning. That's a bogus statistic. Everyone is subject to the possibility of being hit by lightning, since millions of lightning bolts happen every day every where in the world. The number of people swimming in the ocean is miniscule in comparison. If you are in the water, you're much more likely to be attacked by a shark. That's where they live. Even people at the beach are not in the water very long. So, beware.

U nearly got Coogee 100% right, I'm so proud u pronounced it as good u did & to me it's the most beautiful beach in Sydney & possibly NSW aswell as the Aussie East Coast. It's the next major beach down from Bondi & as beautiful as Bondi is, Coogee has it all, esp no annoy foreign tourists except the normal poms we haven't been able to get rid of since 1788

Yikes! The scariest thing is in this video! Turn back! Patrick Bradys toupee looks like he wanted to save money, so he used his moms old wig. Then everyone lied to him by saying it looked good, so he went a got his picture taken. He looks like hes still haggling over the cost of the picture in the photo too. Yikes what a creepy picture!

That was actually some pretty decent police work, considering the limitations of investigations at the time.
Tracking down the victim and piecing together timeline of events before the murder and corralling the two main suspects, all from a seemingly random severed arm.

I would love to see a behind the scenes take on the story of the two men ( brothers, partners) who adopted a lion and then left it at a sanctuary and then were reunited. I saw the documentary, but I bet there's another side

HEY WEIRD HISTORY. how about a video explaining the Ramree Massacre? They made a movie called Saltwater: The Battle for Ramree Island about how over 1000 japanese soldiers got eaten by crocodiles during WW2.

I wish the aquarium hadn't killed the shark.
Tiger sharks aren't called garbage cans of the ocean for nothing!
If it fits in their mouth, there's a good chance they'll eat it.

grandpa was a sailor. He spent quite a long time in the sea and he used to tell me the story about a shark that they had fished to eat. and then found a hand and gave up the idea.

What a bizarre story and the way its told here made me laugh quite a few times! Imagine thinking getting rid of a condemning piece of evidence just to have a shark burp it up, lol!

Can you please do something on early South American or Latin American history? It is a shame this region of the world is so neglected and nullified in Western historian circles.

This story was featured on an HBO series called Autopsy.
The judge ruled that just because they found an arm doesn't mean the person isn't walking around alive!

Life insurance scam.
Dont worry yous lifes no danger. Just act dead.
While we dump you in the ocean two miles away from shore.
Just swim back

Mate, forget an arm in 1935 we found a human head in a shark in 2002.
Look that story up, you'll find very little follow up was reported afterwards.

just a theory pffft. theories are the products of evidence. In some cases, mountains of evidence. The theory of gravity. Germ theory. And many more.

Thanks for including an Aussie mystery here! Another weird historical Aussie mystery, is the Somerton Man/Tamum Shud case if anyone's interested.

CSI Shark Tank. In the next episode, something fishy is going on when a shark gives the authorities a hand.
