I suppose what she meant when she said being shot at made one realize how loved they are was to the fact that most of her would be assassins were stopped by members of the general public and it made her realize that she was adored by the common people, or at least the majority that thought trying to kill a public figure was uncouth and barbaric. Im sure at least the Londoners and English/maybe Scots and Welsh loved her, doubtful the Irish did.
