My only advice for joining AAA is do it before you break down which sounds odd but when you initially join and always get the plus which gives you 100 miles of free towing, you have to wait a week for the 100 miles to be activated though, before then only the first 5 miles are free then it's 4 bucks a mile after that and make sure you have cash or a credit card because you have to pay the tow truck driver before he will release your car. My car all of a sudden died one night at 3 o'clock in the morning, luckily I stopped right next to a state police barracks here in NJ, I hooked my scanner up and it had a code for a low voltage to one of the o2 sensors which I thought wouldn't cause the engine to die, so I got on my phone and was able to join AAA right there, a local cop stopped by and I told him that I called AAA then a state trooper stopped and set up some flares, after joining I called them and told them my location, within 15 minutes a wrecker was there, he towed me to my house, the next day I found the problem, i had purchased a cheap fuel pump on eBay a couple of months before, so when I turned the key I didn't hear it run, so fortunate enough my 2001 lesabre has an access panel in the trunk so I took my rubber malet and hit the top of the pump and still nothing then I hit it with a metal hammer and still nothing, so I knew at that point that it was junk, I got s fuel pump put it in and it started right up, that was the most expensive cheap fuel pump I ever bought, the tow was 94. 00 and joining AAA was 105. 00, the fuel pump was 9. 99.

Hey Scotty. I have a tail light that doesnt work properly. Ive changed the bulb and it still doesn't turn on all the time. If i tap the tail light it turns on but as soon as i turn off the car and turn it back on i have the same issue. The brake light works fine when i step on the brake and the turning signals work. Ive been pulled over already and I dont wanna pay some one 200 bucks to check if its an electrical problem. Can you tell me what it might be? Tnx

AAA takes too damn long. When I was a AAA member, I remember the quickest response time was 3 hours. And, no, that wasn't in the middle of nowhere, it was right here in Houston Average wait time for a AAA tow is around 4 hours I now have Roadside Assistance through my insurance carrier. It only costs me about 1 per month. Yesterday, my truck wouldn't start and I called them. They gave me an ETA of about an hour. The tow truck was there within 15 MINUTES

Well, there is insurance and there is roadside insurance (towing, out of gas, flat tire, etc. Their car insurance products, at least here in Texas. blah. I've been a roadside insurance customer since 1986, when I lost my towing on my car insurance for abusing the privilege. My car was towed twice that year, and I got them to reimburse me 50 each tow. Yes, the tows cost more than that even back then. Haven't paid directly for a tow since.

Thanks for the Video. I agree AAA is a good choice for towing. I have used them several times, no problem. Stay away from their Battery service. They will weasel out of replacing it. We had one go dead a year old. They came out. tested it and said its the starter. we took the car to the dealer. dealer says its the Battery. I replace the Battery with one from Sam's club, problem goes away. AAA says Pound Sand. word to the wise.

AAA change their policy I have used AAA for many years and this year they changed it where I I can only tow it to a residential address one time I'm a premium member I pay 148 a year and they will only allow me to tow it to my house one time per year. I'm a mechanic side work on my own cars I can see this being a problem because I'm not going to pay to have a shop work on my car and charge me 110 an hour

AAA car insurance is highly rated but it's different from their towing service. Even though you must have a membership to purchase the car insurance, you don't need the insurance for towing, just the membership. Even though AAA insurance premiums tend to be on the expensive side, they pay back dividends at the end of the year because they technically operate as a non- profit.

Hey Scotty I got a Pontiac grand am 2003 with the ram air v6 with 293, 000 kms on it and the motor runs and idles fine but In first gear it lurches and the rpms bounce up and down then it gets into second and third and goes fine, then it wont go into fourth and it really lacks power. I was told it might be the transmission speed sensor, any advice?

AAA is so much the very best, I am a Premier member, has 1 or 2 times a year up to 200 miles towing, I used it ones, for 170 miles, I didn't have to pay a penny, you can also buy currencies from other Nations from AAA, at better rate than any Bank, another service, you can get International DL from AAA, they are really a good company.
