What sort of economy do you want? The one that builds the Trabant and puts you on a ten-year waiting list if you think correctly? The one that proudly encourages statist suits to take up to 100% of your earnings and wealth to bail out failed businesses so the more successful product cannot compete without lowering prices in respect of its subsidised counterpart and lowering its own standard of provision to the customer? Regression, you want? Or do you want to live free, where a man makes things better for another man, and it is only that other man (rather than useless and clueless bureaucrats) who will decide whether it is better to own or use that thing or to keep his money; where no man can be forced to accept what his masters decide he will get? If one doesnt like things falling apart to a carefully engineered operational schedule, buy the alternative product for which a company charges much more in order to recoup the extra investment it gave to designing and manufacturing robustness. If there is no such alternative, build one, and possibly build more so you can sell them. With the profit, feed yourself and buy more useful and enjoyable things from other people who had a business idea like you. Grow, such that, one day, you may employ those who want to feed themselves too. Or let someone take your money up front while giving you nothing but a sickly slogan, let him feed himself and his regulatorily ring-fenced cronies with the finest the farmer can make before his land is taken for sustainable centralised control of human cattle, and let him promise you the world just over the Socialist rainbow.

What killed the US automakers was. the upcharge for union pensions and benefits that were/are tacked onto the sell price of each and every vehicle made. I dont know what the upcharges are presently; but, during the 2008 giveaway by the US government of the new GM to the UAW (51% owner of the new GM) those upcharges were in the range of approx. average of 4500 per each vehicle That 4. 5k didnt provide any extra quality in parts, manufacturing precision, extra research, etc. . simply nada in value added for the customer. The consumer quickly and correctly noted that at equal price between foreign & domestic makers usually meant the US makers were selling comparatively obvious less VALUE, even that at the time the consumer didnt know that average 4500 of value was missing from the vehicle. Without any fanfare the equal price foreign vehicle with better materials, more intensive research, better precision, etc. etc. was simply better. So, it was a no-brainer that virtually more and more aware consumers over time didnt want a US made vehicle anymore. simple natural economics of consumers wanting better value for less money spent. So what killed the US automakers? . the auto unions - who refused to renegotiate in a market that was becoming absolutely dominated by foreign manufacturers that distinctly offered better VALUE.

A capitalist economy created Toyota and the next company that builds a car that lasts decades like Toyota did will take toyotas olace and become the new top seller car company. And that is the bueaty of capitalism. Build a better mousetrap. The companys that build a poor product are slowly dying due to capitalism. These company should have never been bailed out by us and the government that is socialism and thats the only reason they havent died yet because we bailed them out in 2008. You build the best product and you get rich. Thats capitalism. You end up dropping standing and eventual the free market will build somerh better. Capitalism has brought half the world out of poverty in the last 20 years. Not the whole world yet but we are getting there. Once a nation lets the free market work it thrives. What scotty talks about here is corporatism. When corporations and banks try to expand every dollar by cheating customers. Capitalism is not the problem, it is socialism and corporatism and consumerism. Still a big fan of the car stuff scotty just not the constant scapegoat of capitalism.

TOYOTA STILL USED THAT CHEAP DESIGN UP THROUGH THE YEARS, YEAR AFTER YEAR AND REFUSES TO AKNOWLEDGE IT WAS A DEFECT AND HAVE NOT ADDRESSED THE PROBLEM AT ALL. SO MY BROTHER PASSED ON THE VEHICLE AND IS LOOKING FOR SOMETHING ELSE. GO ON THE TOYOTA BLOGGS AND START READING ABOUT THE COMPLAINTS. TIME HAS CAUGHT UP TO THE JAPANESE TOO. Quality isnt everything. A great car flatters the ego and tells you a great story about the company and nation that built it. Thats why older American, British, and high-end European cars are the best. Once you get the technical bugs worked out and solved, nothing raises the spirits and memories of better times like an older American or British car i. e. 1960s-1970s and maybe a select few from the 1980s. Yes, a high end Italian car will try to kill you out of spite but, they are like having a trophy girlfriend with serious mental problems. One moment, its pure lust, passion, and ego boost. Later, both Italian sports car and girlfriend try to kill you because they imagine you cheated on them even though you were faithful. Cara mia, I wasnt looking at that Citroen SM, I swear I wasnt

1998 Mercury Marquix plastic intake manifold started leaking then one by one the coils failed so never buy one that the front pipe is not metal intake. I went to best Ford to look up all recalls they said there was not any they lied the plastic intake the jack and instructions but as the f b I had many cars they (Ford) said they would replace the intakes then the state police cop cars but the feds made them replace them all for 5 years so by this time the 5 years where up New intake on me and 8 coils coolant etc. One of the Ford better ideas tell them all no recalls at all then they got the 5 year limit I heard that they spent 9 million on that and sold the Ford rental car business. Get a torker aluminum instead Love your videos and your great humor and editing keep them coming

Thank god capitalism is based on mutual trade. Im not trading my money for any brand known to be unreliable. If enough people do the same, reliability will becomethe new bottom line. If manufacturers were run based on socialist subsidies, there would be no incentive for them to make reliable vehicles. Or worse, as with all socialist countries, the economy would eventually tank, and Scotty Kilmer would be making videos about the most reliable bicycles instead. Count your blessings, Scotty.

also scotty, what they dont tell you is democrats needed to make america look bad and foreigners look good to progress to the current fight of today, so many engineers I talk to both current and retired said they werent allowed to implement the engineering into their cars that toyota has but then they saw toyota with the very same thing into their vehicles. Toyota didnt actually design any of thier cars, the US and europe did, especially germany.

The capitalist system that boomed in the industrial age was what layed the foundation for this nation. And has over the years thru backdoor deals and secret pacts has bastardized the American dream. Sad but true Amarica is never going to be as great as it was. or shouldve been.
