What it Actually Takes to Race a 500 Car for 24 Hours! onesikm: Motul 300V competition 10w-60
Oil companies are sort of like orange juice bottles. For example, You know how they say this bottle contains only 7% juice and they market it to you as 100% real juice? It s the same thing with oil! Most of the manufactures get away with adverting full synthetic because after like 25% of the content of the bottle of engine oil is synthetic based them are given to right to claim full synthetic as a marketing ploy! But In actuality your getting skimped and as far as I m aware of there are only very few handful of companies that announce the claim 100% synthetic that s the big kicker that not many of us realize and it took me many years as well to catch on to this scam lol. I know it sucks but here is a few brands you can try that I know are legit and 100% synthetic based oil.
-Motul (you can try the 8100 model if you guys want more of a budget line since the first model I suggested, 300v is top tier and comes in usually around 200 an oil change give or take)
-Amsoil, this is another great brand of oil which is also 100 percent synthetic and slept on by so many people!
-the last one I m not certain about but But they should be 100% synthetic as well is the brand Royal Purple. Don t quote me on this one guys I m confident is it legit but I could be wrong. The benefit of running this oil would be that it can be found at most auto parts stores which at times is such a come thru! As for the Motul and Amsoil I ve never seen those sold in your average parts store so that s the only draw back of running those brands. If the royal purple is 100percent synthetic then that s something a lot of people could switch to if they care about the longevity of their vehicles since it can be picked up over the counter with no down time. oreilys auto parts has them in stock usually always I see them but don t run them in my cars. I stick with Motul mainly or Amsoil
Best of luck to you guys and that was some great content brotha!

Congrats! Cant believe you made BMW to the finish line!
About the engine oil, as a motorcycle mechanic i have this suggestion
Chris you can try to use Motorcycle engine oil instead of the car oil (Common top tier brands like: Motul 300v, Respol, ENEOS, Bel-ray etc. Or i have a my own favorite brand names Panolin (Their Motorcycle engine oil which is very great but i dont know how well their car engine oil can be preforming)
Motorcycle engine oil can do the better job to deal with higher heat, additive shearing and with higher RPM. Like in motorcycle we can rev over 13, 000 RPM so easily. Specially some sportbikes we can rev over 16, 000 RPM. Also motorcycle oil we have high viscosity grade too like 10w60 or 15w60 etc.
Or you can just use the single grade SAE60 oil, and use the engine heater to preheat it to the operating temperature before to race.
I Hope my little suggestions will help you to solve the engine oil issue for the next race.

The 2nd bump you guys had is just racing accident. It's happening A LOT in multiclass racing. You have a MUCH heavier car, which needs to brake sooner than the Miata. The Miata is also a RWD, short wheel based car and is quite nimble in the middle part of the corner, thus capable of carrying much more speed while at the same time braking later. Usually it's the guy in the rear responsibility to make sure he can pass/race safely but. well. that's why they are called racing accidents. Combining the difference in drivetrain, chassis layout, the different driving style for both cars, the adrenaline rush and everything else, it's easy to cloud your judgement.

Been waiting for this video. Still in the first three minutes of it but I just had to say, I appreciate your work Mr. Fix. I love your videos and your detailing advice has been extraordinary in my journey to making my 2016 Nissan sentra look hella clean on a broke man's budget. I don't have much but my car looks clean and I have no one to thank besides you and your informative videos. Much love Mr. Fix

So I have been having a bunch of problems with my computer and editing software but after 400hrs of editing (started in October) the video is finally done. There were a total of 8 cameras, 4TB of footage, and for whatever reason my supercomputer kept crashing. I am happy to say this one is done and now onto the DIY! The 7th annual Christmas Gift Idea video is in a few days so stay tuned!

Regarding the racing incident: I only know F1 rules (but I'm guessing these are general racing rules applicable to pretty much every race, but if this was an F1 race, you guys were ahead (nose was definitely fully ahead) so you had the racing line going into the turn. The Miata was at fault for that incident there, he should've backed off and wait for another opportunity to pass.

You need to run Rotella! I ran it on all my cars and even some of the fastest cars run it here. Made for diesel engines, and diesel engines knock from factory, and have A LOT of torque and go through a lot of stress! This is a recommendation from someone who ran Rotella for YEARS on cars that were abused daily, raced daily and always ran to redline constantly.

I think the biggest learning of this video is that you have to be very careful in pushing your car too much, beyond regular day to day paces. If even such a prepared car went into so many issues, imagine our regular cars, that we do not specifically prepare beforehand for high performances how they could suffer for just few minutes of spirited driving.

May I suggest you look at LIQUI-MOLY SYNTHOIL RACE TECH GT1 10W-60. I use it in my S54 M3 engine and a lot of race cars running M54 and S54 engines run it. You could also look at Motul 10w-60 as another great oil option. Congratulations on the come back. So awesome to see. Well done guys!

Not sure about USA, but here in the UK I was taught that the car BEHIND has full responsibility to pass cleanly. The car ahead is EXPECTED to remain on the racing line, and is entitled to use it. That means the red miata was 100% responsible for tapping the car at the end of the straight

346 laps stands for 3 series E46, that's the perfect number!
In my opinion, this is the best spirit in facing a race, and this is the best kind of races: normal cars with a thorough tuning, amateur pilots, very nice people all around. We want to see more! Thanks a lot

If it was up to me i woud have had higer viscosity oil from the start if the car for example take 5W30 id put 10W40 or something like that since the engine woud be runing for so long
Edit: also puting oil pre heated woudnt hurt so the engine is at runing tem asap

Chris, I think there is a solution for a viscosity. 1- Changing oil after 1st day of racing and reload with fresh oil for second day. 2- You can you Liquid Molly oils with additives like ceramic. I am using ceratec additive in my car and its super effective.

Have never raced, never had much interest in racing despite driving for a living and being a gear head. I would LOOOVE to do a Lemons-type race. Would be fun to find some old junker and drive it like I stole it. legally. lol
You guys did amazing!

Man I always have so much ideas on what could be done to improve the car, but 500 budget is very restricting! I think there should be a big rear wing, and maybe you could just buy some metal and cut them up to mount on the car. Canards too I guess?
