Just ran into this issue. I have a 1997 Outback Legacy limited. The thing was a Florida car for years so it actually isn't rusty at all! The frame is clean, and it doesn't even have the classic Subaru rear quarter rust. I did just have to put a fuel filler neck on it, of course. So anyway. I noticed that it pulls to the right quite a bit, so I took it in for an alignment. Naturally, the rear end was out of alignment and the shop called me and they told me that the adjustment bolts and whatnot were seized which made me think of this video. After the quote I got to get it aligned, I'm a little hurt lol.

i can't see why the inner bushing would be harder, as you can (and did) push/pull on it to break the bond. At the head end, you can't push/pull, so you have one less method at your disposal.
My Alfa GT has a similar setup with a long bolt through two radius arms, took me 3 days to get it off, though the majority of the time was waiting overnight for the penetrating oil to do its thing. Evening of the 2nd day it wouldn't budge, first try on the 3rd day and it cracked loose.

Eric O. next time take the inner bolts off the lateral link arms at the sub-frame. Once the bolts are out pull down on the arms. They will rotate on the bushings and you'll never need to deal with that big bolt again. Ten years of working on Subies at dealers in Massachusetts and New Hampshire has taught me you can't buy experience but it sure is expensive when it comes to rusty bolt removal. Hope this saves you some time and heartache in the future.

Geez, what a job/ I just started to rip mine apart and half way thru I leaned back and thought, what a crappy set up/design. At the very least, my 04' Forester arrived out of Japan [Yup it's RHD 2. 0L Turbo 5spd] and was not subjected to any road grim whatsoever. Bolts/nut moved freely, 20 mins to rip the whole knuckle right off the car. Great video, thanks!

I don't believe I would find any enjoyment having to face these types of repairs on a regular basis.
Its a wonder he has any hearing remaining!
Guaranteed he'll suffer from Tinnitus (ringing in the ears!
I see the hearing protection laying on the cart while he hammers away. not good!

Good presentation: I'm in the mountains South West of Palm Springs, California, and I still start most jobs -bathing everything in a home brew of parts loosener. And even at that, I often have to work over the area with a concrete vibrator. This is after I clean off the home brew losener.

Idk how strong that impact gun of yours is but it doesn't look like it has a lot of torque. I'd recommend getting a Milwaukee fuel. Also if you're just gonna replace the bushings I heat up both ends of the bolt pretty good before beating on it usually comes out pretty easy

Your easy is hell to me! Watch the whole video as I watch a good movie! I am impress by your patience! Nice work you do. I would feel good leaving my Subaru in your competent hands but, I am thinking of buying something more user friendly.
