Even the price point on the lower ends of the f-Type and boxster/cayman are similar.
Jag even came out with a silly 4-pot like the 718 bcos people are prepared to say, hey i've got a 4-pot Porsche or Jag.
I considered the pre-718 Boxster Spyder. But I think that car made everyone and their dog question the existence of a 911, so to get one now is near impossible and the used Spyder sells for about 15-20% more than its original price.
However the v6s coupe does it for me and strikes the looks-performance-daily balance.

Well, I'm a big fan of Porsche. For me the 911 is almost the perfect sports car. However, I do quite like the Jag as well. But I wouldn't consider buying one until, and unless, they offer a proper manual transmission for it. For me the automatic gearbox is a total deal-breaker. I don't care how quickly it shifts. I want to -row the gears- myself-period. Those of you who have never driven a stick in a performance car simply don't know what you're missing.

Why I choose the Porsche? Its a Porsche. Jaguars also makes cheaper cars, Porsche doesn't. Porsche revolutionised the automobile industry too (if you don't know how, then just get out of here. There is no substitute. A lot of people won't share this opinion, but why would I care?
But hands down, the Jaguar just sounds beautiful, the sound of a god

Jag did a great job for the first year of a totally new car! Porsche has been fine tuning the 911 for 30 years. For Jag to put a new car out that competes with the 911 - considered by many to be the best sports car in the world- is incredible. Give them a couple more years to fine tune it and it will be the car to beat!

I absolutely respect the capabilities of Porsche's, they are the epitome of perfection in the car world. But, I don't want perfection. I want character, I want fun, and I want to deal with the little quirks the car comes with. The Jag pushes the right buttons for ME and makes me smile every time I look at it and drive it.

There really isn't a price comparison in the first place. The Porsche winds up much more expensive once you spec all the options that should be standard which many are on the Jag. Don't get me wrong I adore both cars but even though the Porsche is the better car it didn't have near the grin factor of the F-Type.

As it's been pointed out in other reviews, it's definitely the V6 S of the three with the best overall balance, the V8 is more like a muscle car with its slightly worse handling because of the heavier engine. Anyway, if there's anyone who knows which Jag is the best match vs the 911 it's Mr. Sutfcliffe.

Goononfire, I thought of the exact same thing while watching this. I think the f-type is better looking then the new vette, but the amount of technology and performance you get with the vette for the money is unbeatable. Also corvettes tend to be very reliable. I would go with the corvette.

the 991 was a dissapointment, I would rather have a new cayman s. I feel like the designers got really lazy with the 991, its sad how they ruined the beautiful car that was the 997 by replacing it with something not as attractive

I think the 911 is a bit dull in it's looks and personality so for me I would almost definitely buy an F-Type or a Corvette Stingray, they just have more personality and flair to them.
