The Mini Paceman JCW packs a 215bhp 1. 6-litre turbocharged engine and four-wheel drive. But it is priced identically to the brilliant BMW M135i. Can the Mini's go-kart handling justify its price tag?

A VERY POOR, SIDED REVIEW, but a man with an axe to grind for some reason or perhaps just plane ignorant. Never been a fan of the mini and I find BMW's the most boring; I have no time either for people who think they have to use foul language to make any point at all!
Having said that, my partner has just got a JCW Paceman and we have not had so much fun with our clothes on in a long time. just to see the looks it gets for starters, let alone the respect from other road users. The All 4 adds a lot to the price and it sticks to the road like glue in all weathers with VERY precise steering; however the 135 obviously does not.
Even so the UK price is a bit steep and maybe a gouge by BMW, we love our mini's I am told; I work in CANADA so the cost is less and even less in the USA. No contest really, you may as well compare chalk with cheese; I know for sure which one will be fetching a premium 20 years down the road.

I actually found out yesterday that used 1series BMW costs relatively the same as used countryman s and vw GTI AND it has way more power. hell I found a 2008 135i with 80k for only $14995 thats $2000 cheaper than the 2012 countryman s at a similar mileage. I love mini and vw, not a big BMW fan but I don't understand why auto makers price cars the way they do or how come the used market doesn't depreciate them differently.

It is in essence an 'update' not the same block but realistically it is a downgrade after some reading
N55 - single twin scroll turbo with variable cams aluminium block.
N54 - twin turbo fixed cam forged internals also aluminium block.
Interesting stuff.

This is a troll video. how can you compare a small 1 series with a crossSUV in terms of sportiness: ) lol compare them as you go on the snow. maybe the mini will make donuts around the BMW which is stuck in the snow. RWD is useless if you have winter with snow.

and than you buy the ugly, 'i want to be a premium car' BMW. It looks boring. I prefer the Mini but rather the Countryman ( my wife doesn't agree with me and will buy a Golf Conv. for that money. But never the junior-salesman, dull 1 series.

F--- OFF, my mum has a paceman and the room in the back and boot is very spacious, it's also got a lovely popping noises as it accelerates, 11 out of 10 for the mini, 4 out of 10 for the bmw because it's boring to look at and common

The price of these cars depends a lot on the country. Here in Portugal a base Paceman JCW is -39. 500; a base M135i is -56. 500. So the whole argument same-price-very-different-performance is rather limited.

I just don-t get the 1 series or rear wheel drive cars with the weather we get in the UK, I-m not a fan of the paceman either but if I was forced to pick I-d go for the MINI.
