Apple Won't Let Us Stop Arguing Over M1 Performance
video description
Meanwhile, Apple is living inside Intel/Nvidia's head. -
Apple knows that this will create buzz and controversy. Good for business and free advertising.
Will ANYONE acknowledge how impressive it is to have 2 GPU running as one without SLI or NVLink. running at almost 100% speedup?
PC fanbois will never admit to that. #AppleDerangementSyndrome is real.
2. 5TB/s people. you know deep in your heart you WISHED PCs have that kinda of interconnect.

The M1 Ultra vs 12900K must be GeekBench 5. With a ruler at their peaks in the plot, assuming that's the best both can do, M1 ultra is only 30% better than 12900K like 24000 vs 18500pts, same as what you've measured. Then Apple means 12900K-60 watt is about 12600pts, still makes sense comparing Alder Lake-H with less cores but usually higher peak power than 60w. Raptor Lake can still catch up in terms of peak peformance with the additional E cores. It's just Apple's use of parallax in the plots is cunning but maybe Intel won't be able to fire a lawsuit for that. But it was indeed so vague that my first impression was also -In what-?

Apple has always been this way. Marketing sells their products. I mean if apple told the truth imagine all their users and owners finding out they use Unix for there MacOS, A free OS based of FreeBSD. Imagine is apple told the truth and showed their maskot the platapus in devil horns. Apple sells a cult and basicly brainwashes their customers that they are the best. It starts at an early age. Goto a school with young kids Apple gives the schools free Ipads and Free apple computers for the kids to use. Think about that teaching kids apple is the only computer to use.

After 2 years out in the World for M1 and 5 months or so for the Pro and Max SoCs, did Apple's Graphs and subsequent performance claims hold up? If not, the cry from HATER-ville would still be resounding today. so yea, I think the claims for the Mac Studio will be proven correct. AMD and Intel have to be going Code Brown over the upcoming -true- Mac Pro desktop. But the HATERS will scream cause it won't have PCIe, or a serial port or a VGA connector or.

if these predictions for m1 ultra are true, its going to be crazy. to think it can get these scores at only 3. 2ghz compared to 5. 5ghz on the i9 12900k and only use 60watts of power compared to over 150watts. that's unreal. and that's only m1. with m2 next year because it will be 4nm process from TSMC it will have a 30 percent faster single core and be 10 percent more efficient at the same time.

Example: Adobe FINALLY finalizes All Creative Apps for M-series (c'mon, y'all. the current Mac versions are betas) and Apple releases the -true- Mac Pro at WWDC. the poop will fly at AMD and Intel's chip labs. but FCP will be twice as fast. and the only Adobe app professional Mac Creative types will care about anyway is Photoshop.

When you make the best silicon and destroy everyone else, I guess you can get away with the poor graphs. In all reality, the presentations are genius. They are a philosophical masterpiece and then the chips themselves are typically a technical masterpiece, at least with power consumption. Geekbench scores fwiw look pretty crazy.

Apple can't be honest, because they know with real benchmarks, the 12900K will be significantly faster. This happens all the time. Once again, Geekbench is complete worthless, especially for comparing different architectures, because it will always heavily favor ARM to almost a ridiculous degree.

because arguing = free advertising! Apple is super smart. How is everyone going to hear about it? Easy through debates and rants. After it comes out through customer reviews. It's a brilliant marketing strategy, and they left it abstract and arbitrary for that reason.

Apple does not want customers to know the real numbers. They are talking to people who are impressed by presenters that can perform ridiculously wide stances (feet much wider apart than shoulders) and want to hear something is -better- (somehow.
