GNOME Board Members Must Resign In Disgrace DistroTube

GNOME Board Members Must Resign In Disgrace DistroTube The current leadership of the GNOME Foundation has shown itself to be a dangerous and divisive force in the free and open source software communities. I urge the GNOME community and the greater free software and open source communities to call for the immediate removal of the entire Board of the GNOME Foundation, who have flagrantly violated their own Code of Conduct and enabled others within the GNOME community to do so. - https://rms-open-letter.github.io/ - Open Letter To Remove RMS - https://wiki.gnome.org/Foundation/CodeOfConduct - GNOME Code of Conduct - https://wiki.gnome.org/FoundationBoard/CurrentBoardGroup - GNOME Board LET GNOME HEAR YOUR VOICE! - https://twitter.com/gnome - https://www.facebook.com/GNOME - https://discourse.gnome.org/ - https://www.reddit.com/r/gnome/ - https://web.archive.org/web/20190331170750/https://www.gnome.org/foundation/contacts/

Kinda ironic, considering your video from 2 days ago ;)
Anyway, why should the board members resign? They won't for sure, and let them have it. Instead, all those programmers and other good people who disagree with their politics, should just leave GNOME and move somewhere else where they could start a new, better project and compete with GNOME. That's how it's been done in the good old days of Free Software: you don't like how something is right now? Then just fork it and make it work the way you like it. It's a waste of time (and a losing battle) to struggle with bad management and shitty people. Just let them rot in their own crap they made for themselves. They won't go far without the real work horses which are the developers. In order to manage, you need to have something to manage.
And I'm speaking from experience right now, because I participated in an organization that has been taken over this way by bad people who came to power and started ruining that organization by their deliberate bad decisions. All the other people wanted them to resign, but the new directors didn't want to resign, and there was no way to make them do that (and they knew that all well, because that was pretty much the first changes they made for themselves in the statute: to disable others from removing them). So all the members decided to take their toys and move on to somewhere else. They started a completely new organization, made a new website, and it turned out even better than the old one, while the original organization's evil directors ended up alone on a sinking ship, because without all those people they were nothing.

Hello DT,
I dont know if this will catch you attention. I didn't follow the case of RMS about the accusation.
I just know that he was forced to resign.
So either those accusations were not true, then your video makes sense (and I would agree with that
but you didn't seem to say anything about how untrue those accusations are).
Or those accusation were true, then I dont see the issue how this is -unfriendly- as this stating pure facts.
And in that case, I think I would rather support the petition to remove RMS from a leading position
since there is no reason to have such person to behave that way (but this is politics). The letter goes
the extra mile to call to remove all board members to be remove which is questionable indeed.
On the other video about Linux when you describe how certain tool are great, in a certain workflow.
So in the end, in this video is lower quality than usual because of its lack of argumentation.
I dont use GNOME, I dont use Emacs, but Free Software is important.
I am just a user, I dont care that much about politics.

This is a silly argument that Gnome is -violating its own code of conduct.- The code assumes that the people towards whom we should act in these respectful ways have not done anything morally wrong, so we owe them that respect, because their differences don't relate to moral conduct. If a person has done something wrong, i.e, precisely violated this requirement of treating others with respect, then a different code applies, the code requiring punishment of those who have used others and not respected them. They would be wrong to be welcoming, respectful etc. to someone they believed had been unethical in this way. Would DT tell a store-owner that he or she should give polite customer service to someone who is shoplifting? Silly. Now of course whether Stallman HAS done anything morally wrong is another question. THAT is the argument DT should be making.

Sounds more like children than Adults. I left Gnome after it came out with 3 it was just a horrible transition. Now I just use openbox and a few programs to make my own desktop environment. One of the reasons I left Window's is do to the fact they act like a bunch of children. I Blame this on those releases that try to hard to look and feel like Windows Canonical. I came to the Linux Community because it used to be just that a community now its more like a bunch of assholes who think they are better than everyone else. Honestly Not only should the board be removed I don't think they should be allowed to work on any linux distro

This seems rather hypocritical of you and everyone liking the video. You accuse GNOME of one thing and then in your title and video, you do the exact same thing you accuse them of. I understand if you disagree with their point of view. But... aren't they entitled to their own freedom of speech if they don't agree with RMS being appointed? If enough people sign that open letter, don't we owe them the freedom of speech we fight for to allow them to make their point. This whole video seems like a -freedom of speech, only when I agree with it- sort of deal. IDK. That's just my take on it.

Not a GNOME fan, but if they -must resign in disgrace-, then RMS must also. I'm all for redemption, and I actually am a little lenient in my opinion of RMS, as he definitely falls in the autistic spectrum, but what has RMS done to garner redemption? He made outlandish statements in early 2004, that he promoted all thru the 2000's, ending up with his removal from FSF office in 2019. Is he so above everyone else that he can just waltz back to his old position without any consequences? Them by FSF removing him in 2019, they didn't punish him, they just gave him a vacation.

Holy FUD macaroni.... why are you spreading so much negativity? You say many times that they watch you everywhere, when in their CoC they clearly list only the git repos from gnome... 3:36
Like, I try and keep away from politics, I have absolutely no opinion on RMS being banned or unbanned and I have no idea of your politics. The issue that I have is people spouting incoherent arguments, and using their platform to spread FUD. I expected more, at least more rationality and nuance from you.

My take is that we should remove (including physically) all sort of political activists of Free Software Community. We've already witnessed what this sort of behaviour done in every other areas of our lives. We already live in a world where we are kidnaped and kept under control by the tyranny of all sort -
of unproductive destructive political bigots (left, right, center, alt... doesn't matter. They are all sick and dangerous).

YES. I have met redhat people and they are moralistic stilted sociopaths. They are the one's virtue signalling online about gnome and jumping on this lazy bandwagon demonizing rms. I've met Stallman and talked to him at length and he is not deserving in this ignorant opportunistic mob character assassination. It's completely alienating and concerning to see how so many people think now.

Of course the Commie Bastards coming after Stallman. He represents that which they dispise most -FREEDOM-.
Except for anything related to kids!
Stallman has a lifetime -get out of jail free- pass with me. He gave the world Emacs. Emacs is one of the greatest contributions anyone could make
