Loneliness can be different for people. I felt very alone and lonely in my abusive marriage. I find peace in being totally alone in nature and find these videos very soothing to watch. Everything seems very noisy these days especially. Shutting off the TV and the phone lets me do things at my very own pace. I truly wish I had the skills and strength to do what you do Shawn. I do need to see my family. My daughter, sisters and a few good friends. I also need to be alone. To read, think and keep my own schedule. One has to strike their own balance. Thank you for your incredibly beautiful videos Shawn. Wishing you all the best! Cali is the sweetest and happiest dog in the world. What great company she is.

Great update video.
As far as that solar panel is concerned, I believe it still produces power with shade. The problem is you need voltage higher then your battery (12V) to charge it. So if your panel only produces 8 volts, you get no charge. If however you have two such panels in series and each produces 8V, then you have 16V to charge your battery. So in overcast conditions, you want multiple panels in series. In home installations you can encounter enough panels to produce nearly 400 volt. Needless to say your charger needs to be rated for this.

We need walkabout in our lives. It keeps us alive, keeps us human. Another way for those of us in towns, etc, is to switch of noise. Ive not had a tv on or a radio on for weeks, just working in quiet. Its good to switch off the chatter and work through some thoughts and memories that never get addressed. When I was a gardener, whilst at uni, I used to come up with some great essays whilst weeding and digging in the quiet. Every now and then we still need to talk to someone, share, hug, laugh and cry.
Thanks for your you food for thought videos.

Have you ever thought of having a limited number of paying students through the year to teach some of the basic skills you have? I participated in a couple of 1 week long classes with the tracker school in nj. The principal teacher taught native american traditions. There is the required standard class, then I took the 1st philosophy class, which covered shamanic tradition. I loved the classes. The students lived in tents for the week.

Shawn, Great spiel on getting away from man made noise! I still remember a small life-changing get away when I solo tented out in Shenandoah Valley in March 2013. I couldnt sleep all night bc it was a lot colder than I prepared for. then next morning hiked for many miles in a heavenly perfect weather day. it was only one day but my love for the outdoors and not being afraid to do things alone was reignited!

As a writer, i spend the majority of my time alone. It is the most enjoyable time of my life, for I can create, research, postulate, and aid humankind in a deeper understanding of self and all it means. Real growth comes from not just being alone but reflecting and meditating, but i can do these things when not alone. It means all the difference in thw world

Even if one joins clubs, and meets many people, there is no guarantee of deeper connection. Its an unfortunate fact of life for some. That is why so many can feel more lonely in a crowd than being by themselves. You have to be with the right people for your own personality, and I think thats even harder to find these days.

I know it's been almost 2 years but I still thought I would offer this tip to maximize your portable panel's performance. Set an empty soup can or similar on the panel and tilt the panel forward or backwards until the can's shadow disappears. No shadow means the panel is perfectly angled to the sun for maximum performance.

Very cool. I got interested in solar through Rodale books showing how to make them with aluminum cans painted black inside, under glass etc. about 30 years ago. Theyve come a long way. Happy Thanksgiving, and God bless you.
