Today I am going to show you one of my husband's favorite recipes from when he lived in South England. Jacket potatoes are roasted or baked potatoes made with a variety of toppings. Today I am going to make homemade turkey chili to top these fluffy tender baked potatoes. Ingredients 4 large russet potatoes olive oil butter sour cream salt and pepper to taste TURKEY CHILI INGREDIENTS 2 lbs ground turkey of beef 1 Tbsp dehydrated onion 2 1/2 to 3 Tbsp light chili powder 1 1/2 to 2 tsp granulated garlic powder 1 1/2 to 2 tsp ground cumin 1 1/2 to 2 tsp smoked paprika 1 1/2 tsp salt 1 tsp cracked black pepper 2 1/2 cups of beef broth 1/4 cup instant corn flour 15 oz can charro pinto beans (drained) can of Rotel tomatoes and green chiles carmen: Hahah. knock yourself out. I'm Portuguese, born in India and living in Canada.
We love beans in our chili, especially pinto beans, and sometimes Portuguese chorizo sausage. So tasty!
YourJacket Potatoes look so good! Thanks for posting and happy Victoria Day weekend
to all your Canadian fans!

I love them with grated cheese and coleslaw. I bake mine in the oven but I start them off in the microwave, then oil and salt them and put them in the oven, they only take about 30 mins and they crisp up fine. I'm in Scotland and we called them by either name jacket potatoes o r baked potatoes. I've been making chilli con carne for my family for 46 years and I still use the same recipe. Its out of Marks & Spencers cookbook and its easy to remember. 1 lb ground beef, 1 can Campbells cream of tomato soup, chilli powder, 1 teasp salt and 1 can of red kidney beans. I love it. Thank you for sharing xxx

I always add beans to my chili, they just give it an extra flavor. But I have heard some diehard Texans say, No Beans in the chili. I knew a lady who added diced potatoes to her chili, and she wasn t Hispanic. I tried it once, and it was good, but I think, like adding beans, the potatoes just stretched out the chili.

I'm a native Texan, born and raised, (Houston, and I'm still here. I've always found the fuss about beans in chili to be rather silly. I do prefer chili without beans, but sometimes I'm hungry for chili with beans. It just depends on the day I guess. Both are good ol' Texas chili to me.

It's a shame you have to reiterate your common sense tasks. I grew up in New Mexico as well and I eat beans in my chili. To me chili without beans is hot dog dressing. lol Are you old enough to remember Frito Pie? Man, now i gotta go take out hamburger mince for tommorow's dinner. haha

I have baked potatoes in the microwave with oil and salt, wet paper towel for the first set time, then no paper towel for the last time and they come out crispy and delicious!
Always poke your potatoes, regardless of kind so they don't explode!
Looks yummy!

This is awesome! I've never seen them scored like an X. How convenient to open!
And by the way, you go girl! You put those beans in your chili. I'm from Texas also, and that's the only way I've ever eaten my chili. In fact I use 3 different kinds of beans!

I love chili. With or without beans, don t care. I just love chili. but I make it mild as heat/spicy hot chili makes the inside of my mouth blister. (Yes it s weird. I serve it with crushed red pepper and Serrano chili s for anyone who prefers heat.

I also bake my oiled and salted potatoes on the top oven rack but. I put a piece of aluminum foil on the bottom rack as a drip tray. Oil and salt dripping off the baking potatoes can do a number on the floor of your oven.

1. Love beans in my chili. 2. We whack the cooked potato on the counter to break up the inside. You should try it. 3. Where did you get the cheese? I'd love to try it. We have HEB, Walmart, and Sprouts. Thank you!

I love beans in my chili. Another suggestion for those potatoes, Angela, carne picada cubana. I think they call it picadillo a la cubana, Browned beef with cumin, raisins and olives, tomato paste
