I made this last night for my partner and I, and while I couldn't taste much of it (sinus issues) the boyfriend was very happy. I did have to make a few moderations based on what I had. For instance, I used ketchup instead of tomato paste, and fish sauce in replace of worchestershire sauce. I also omitted bay leaves as I didn't have any, and used corn starch in replace of flour for the beef coating. It still got a good review!

now it might just be me but when i make stew i'll put everything in except the potatoes and carrots cook the meat for 30-45 mins pop the top add the potatoes and carrots and cook for an additional 6 mins. if i cook them for any longer they seem to be pretty mushy. like i said it might just be me, good stuff though, my wife and i call this comfort food.

What does the tomato paste add to this recipe? That is a new concept for me. Also, I've never added bay leaves or Worchestershire sauce either. It sure did look wonderful! Oh, I've never seen it placed on toasted bread either. where have I been all these years? I will have to definitely give this a try. Gale Flowers

The shake method was new for me. Also the small portions are also very important. Thank you for your one pot meal tutorial. I have heard some things about the cooker like it gets too hot and can overboil when the lid comes off by reacting to the cool air. But I must admit I do like all the settings.

Making today this for the second time. Really frustrated because my pot keeps turning off with the burn error. I guess the flour built up too much when sauteing. Really annoying that it won't cook and just wasted several meals worth of food. Will definitely brown beef in separate pan next time

I followed your recipe exactly as you made it and my family LOVED it. My teens even ate the carrots and that is saying something! I thought the potatoes might fall apart and that didn t happen. I bought baby carrots and didn t need to prep them which saved a little time. Two thumbs aloft!

This is an ideal meal for a new to cooking adult male. Simple and clearly explained, even I garnered surprised praise sharing with an astonished first date. Easily adapted to making larger portions and freezing for future meals. Thanks endlessly for sharing this great dish.

I just got a Star Wars BB-8 Instant Pot for Christmas from my sister. I'm a bit nervous about using it. I also wondered what the first thing I should cook in it could be. Is this a recipe I should start with or do you recommend something else? I really am nervous. Help.
