Why Nintendo Games Almost Never Go on Sale

Why Nintendo Games Almost Never Go on Sale

Nintendo's games almost never drop in price, yet their competitors discount games just months after release. Why is that? What nobody ever thinks about is that if Nintendo games hardly ever drop in price because of their high value.
. then that means that you can ACTUALLY make your money selling these high value Nintendo games AFTER the fact for higher prices.
You get your money on the BACK END not the FRONT END with Nintendo. Nintendos more of an investment than a bargain bin.
You bought a Nintendo game at $60 in 2022, you can sell that same Nintendo game for $360 in 2042.
Wait long enough & you might get lucky & sell them for THOUSANDS of dollars instead of Tens & Hundreds.
And the -failed- systems like Gamecube, Wii U & such will end up even higher valued because of the smaller userbase they had.
Failure in the short term but successful in the long term. Thats Nintendos business identity. They like the Long Game.
However, due to this wrongheaded push towards digital the used game market is getting hampered to some degree.
Luckily amiibos are PHYSICAL & Complete unlike games that need online updates for full content so it will be THERE where resell value is at its best. Dont be surprised to see someone use amiibos as their retirement money years into the future.\r\n

The key to gaming cheap (aside from modding) with Nintendo is to game a console generation behind. For the last 5 years i have been enjoying my wii u at a fraction of a cost than a switch, and many games on the switch were just ports from wii u anyways. The key is when the next Nintendo comes out there is a flood of consoles that come on the used market, many of them with the exclusive games. When the switch came out, I upgraded from the wii to the wii u back in 2017 and paid $200 for the wii u with 6 games (all exclusives) and extra controllers. I am already seeing deals on the switch in the used market but suspect it will only go down further as so many impulse bought during the pandemic. Also, their games are never heavy on graphics and most age like fine wine, so it doesnt matter if I play a new game now or in 5 years (unless its a must have like BOTW, which i played on wii u anyway lol. So while i enjoy my wii u and wait for a cheap switch, i also enjoy my xbox and PS exclusives as their exclusives can be had anywhere from $10-$60, most of them well under $30 in less than a year after release

Their quality standard? Seriously? I mean come on. Like 15 years ago I would have agreed on that. But not nowadays.
Most Nintendo Switch games seemed to me unfinished, unpolished and rushed.
Just take the Pokemon Games. Pokemon the biggest franchise in the world with billions of dollars. That could easyly hire 200 extra freelance developers. And their games are less polished then anything indi developers with only 10 people build. I can count up at least 10 indi creature collectors that where more polished and less buggy.
Breath of the wild had the worse doungeons, monster variity and endbosses any Zelda ever had and people praise it to be the best game ever. Its extremly overrated. Like serious it has only about 5 enemies that are fun killing: Bokoblins, Lizalfos, Lynel, 2 Types of Guardians. Most other enemies are to big or slow to even hit you. Like yeah 5 monsters that feel finished.
Its a good game because of the big world map. But its also very lacking in other points.

Another thing is that Sony and Microsoft both have their own business elsewhere besides gaming. Nintendo is primarily gaming, so their only source of income is through their games. The average game is only $60 anyways, so for them, they can-t do anything else to make back the money from cartridges and materials then just by selling their games at $60. People treat it like it-s a right when y-all are arguing over a game, a thing that-s not necessary. Just don-t buy it if you don-t want to afford it.

Fun fact: The quality of a game should never be related to its price. Example being Undertale, you can buy that game five to 6 times on PC (4 times on Switch) or you can buy just a single Nintendo game on Switch and I'm pretty sure Undertale's quality surpasses almost every game on Switch.
Edit:
Oh yeah I just remembered, almost all third-party games that released on other platforms cost more on Switch even if they're digital only so none of the arguments in this video apply to that.

These are abusive business methods. Look at the retail and second hand market. Nintendo keeps their games at full prize 8 years after the release, so people that want to sell their old copies price them as they were new. And if the game belongs to an older generation, then good luck finding one physical copy that isn't over 100$ (twice the OG price. I think piracy is a well deserved practice from costumer's side. One can't just afford to play fair in their business game.

There prices may not go down but compared to sony and microsoft there still cheaper in canada some ps4 games are 80 dollars wich is expensive as hell compared to nintendo 60 dollars price tag but again expensive games is something we had to always put up with i remember games at 50 dollars and i thought that was alot not there upto 70 to 80 dollars
reply

So Nintendo rub people no discounts for the kids and and people with low budget that Logo was P. S a fact smash bros all the downloading content u pay 60 dollars then a other 60 or up on it again riping off the customers selling not a complete game ----- robbery no more complete games no more

Also the competition has better games now anyway.
There is nothing like Spider-Man on Switch.
There is nothing like God of War on Switch
Nothing like Bloodborne, Ratchet and Clank, Last of Us and more on Switch.
Nintendo has always sucked. I am GLAD I ditched them.

He started off with the first part and I was like IDGAF! Then I-m part two he went on to talk about the seal of quality and how well polished Nintendo games always are and I was like-. DAMNIT YOU GOT ME! Nothing like high quality releases for sure!

2: 37 this stat is kinda misleading since the switch only had 7 games on launch, and this isn't even a year later. Still way better attachment rate than Sony and MS, obviously, but the lack of launch games definitely played a factor here.
reply

Yeah i het that quality thing but there needs to be a cutoff point on when it falls in price.
But yeah when Nintendo makes a gane its usually always a big seller but when others have games or ports, they should be on sale. At least

reply

Actually Nintendo used to drop their games low with Players choice and Nintendo Selects. Its when people compared them to Disney and Apple that they started to get the idea their Brand is valuable. It started just on the switch.
reply

Worst part of the switch is that you can't refund any of these games and most don't even have a demo to try out
Also nintendo's quality standards don't seem to apply to the buggy unfinished pokemon games of late

reply

Nintendo is like the biden of gaming. They get away with high prices and people still buy it. The games could be garbage yet people say their awesome. Why? Because it-s Nintendo. Sounds familiar?
reply

A good and fair for all consumers formula. Only has one drawback - works for the time as long as there is no competitor.
It's a wonder that Disney, Apple, Nintendo always sell.

reply

Pirate games is illegal, but the prices are the reason there was a guy i always went to buy Wii games for. 16 dollars. And not even the Wii u has came when i bought them at that price.
reply

I grew up with PlayStation so don't really get nostalgia with Nintendo. I also am only interested in Zelda games. Others don't catch my eye all that much including Mario Kart.
reply

Thanks for the video. i was not sure wht to buy as i was confused between switch lite & xbox s. But this video cleared everything. I am booking my xbox s in nxt sale.

The real reason is parents feel safer to buy there kid Nintendo games because most of the exclusive games in Nintendo does not contain adult content
reply

To save money on games, I typically buy used. I bought my switch last year and I don't think I've paid full price for a game since I did.
reply

Nintendo. i. just emulate the 4 games for generation ( literally) that I'm interested in since the GameCube, their last good console.
