Justin needed fresh blood to join him on his quest to play every FMV game, and Brian was the one person naive enough to help him out. Today, they dive into the terrifying logic of The 7th Guest

My FMV game recommendation is The Infectious Madness of Dr Dekker. You play as a psychologist who is the replacement for the recently murdered Dr Dekker. His killer is one of his patients (or his assistant) and it is up to you to not only find out who killed him but to also learn about your patients and their stories. ( everytime you play through the game there is a different killer and it's really cool)

When I was much younger, we had the 7th Guest in our little drawer of games. My mom refused to let me play it, saying it would be 'too spooky'.
In the meantime, I played a game that I can't recall the name of where the hotel you're staying at is a vortex to Hell and a cave just outside the door shot poisonous arrows into you. A+ parenting

this is so weird because it-s like hearing justin and the heir to his empire. every time justin says -Brian- I freak out it-s like worlds colliding. the jackbox vids with justin griffin and brian are one thing but hearing JUST THESE TWO BOYS interacting is wild on a whole fresh level

My favorite thing about old polygon videos with Brian in them: everyone in the comments section talking about how they love the new guy. Brian was an incredible addition to the polygon team! He-s a comedic genius and I-m glad he got recognized immediately when he was first hired.

Fun fact the reason a castle would be built on a hill like that is to help against seiges. castle's are often built in areas that are difficult to attack. but i'll be honest of the few castles ive gotten to see none of them were on a frikin cliff. idk

It's hard for me to listen to brian talk in these old videos lol he's so clearly nervous and a little uncomfortable, he doesn't really loosen up until overboard really starts if u ask me, and then not even right away

I remember playing bits and pieces of this game with my dad back when it was new(ish) - THE SKY IS RUDDY YOUR FATE IS BLOODY! stuck out so clearly in my head and I'm so glad it made it into this video lol

justin (and griffin tbh) were a loss from polygon, but brian and the other new people just keep improving. i only wish that we could see justin and brian interact more, because wow it-s fantastic

So like did they have to find a ghost agent for all these ghost actors they hired? Follow up question, is a ghost agent also a ghost or alive but understands the troubles faced by ghost actors?
reply

It-s VERY brave of the internet to not have this crazy viral.
The internet-s very own trickster god and the oldest brother of the brotherhood of brothers together?
This needs more love

The music in this game is so strange, I have this on in the background while I'm playing animal crossing and I thought it was one of my villagers singing but ITS IN THE GAME?
reply

You know what's crazy. the video quality and the quality of the soundtrack are on par with the Finnish depiction of The Lord of the Rings in the 1990s on television.
reply

It-s so sweet when a father and son play games together XD
Whats funny about this joke is that you know exactly which one is the son and which one is the father XD

The acting in this is so weird. It's like they hired stage actors instead of movie actors. It's just like. the wrong type of acting and everyone's projecting.

Y'skipped one of my favorite parts in the playroom. Click the balloon and you get an evil clown. -Want a balloon, sonny? here's a nice one. Reeeed ballOOOOOON! -

its such a shame that we didn't get more brian and justin content. they're so good together, two equally yet very different chaotic energies about them.
reply

I love slowly watching them realize the actual gameplay itself is not entertaining to watch and just rushing through it to see more wacky cutscenes
reply

Oh come on, I think Justin is being disingenuous that he doesn't know who The Fatman is or has never seen his name in the credits of 90s games.
reply

The first three fmv quests were really good but I think bringing in another person (and yay! More Brian content) really made this series pop
reply

I'm so glad that this series is continuing, but I'm even more glad that I never bothered to play 7th Guest back in the day. this just looks insane.
reply

So glad to see this series return! Any chance you two would play the FMV Clue game Justin and Russ mentioned in The Brief History of Clue?
reply

Why was the game video so crappy? Did you play some kind of lame console port? The original PC version had far better graphics and sound!
reply

Rewatching this, Im kinda sad there wasn't more BDG and Justin crossover at Polygon, they have a pretty fun dynamic!
reply

idk why but this sort of game is SO damn spooky. creepy. i would have nightmares for weeks if i played this alone
reply

This game has many parts to enjoy, but I think the best is the -throwing-a-piano-down-the-stairs music cue-
reply

I saw someone stream part of this game once. I am not disappointed in what made the cut into the video xD

This unlocked a hidden memory that a friend of mine acted in a fmv game, this had to be in the mid 2000s.

hey if anyone at polygon reads the comments: fyi the link for playlists in the description is broken!
