What a rare treat! Thanks to an LGR viewer's generosity we're able to enjoy a new old stock IBM ThinkPad computer. Costing nearly $4, 000 in 1997, it's a mid '90s notebook PC with a 166MHz Pentium MMX, 16MB RAM, 3GB hard drive, and built-in floppy and CD-ROM drives. Fantastic. Apparently it's spent a lonely life in the back corner of an office storage area, just waiting for someone to take it home. And after over two decades, that day has finally come

This video popped up as a suggestion and I thought, why not. I was born in 94 and my brother was born in 97 so our memories of technology and games are limited until a bit later on the late 90s/2000-s but one of my key memories is going to our dads office on a Saturday when he would update all of the computers because they didn-t have an IT guy, and playing Doom on his computer for an hour. We-d sit on his lap at this massive computer and one would shoot, the other would press space and dad would move. So watching you set up a laptop from that time and then load in our first ever video game is a small joy. I definitely don-t think he had a registered version of Doom though- looking forward to your other videos.

It's kinda nuts to me the think Pad aesthetic, has survived nearly 30 years now.
My current laptop is the W530 and having never owned a ThinkPad before but always loving their look, I was surprised by how chunky and heavy it is. I genuinely thought I'd been sent a '90's model by mistake XD
They even still come with that rubber top that gets so gross after a whole. It's such an old ball machine, I love and am sad that I have to upgrade to something new soon as it is well and truly on it's last legs now

I had some sorta think pad that was sone sorta late 90s model and ran jaws 3. 31 and oof. Sadly did not run too smoothly. You would start jaws- wait like 30 seconds for it to do whatever command you had given the machine or typed a character. This was 2004 or so from one granted for my use in high school classes. I was never sure if it was jaws or the hardware or software that was the issue.

I remember POD being bundled with my 200 MX Compaq Presario system. It didn't run too great - until I installed a Diamond Monster 3D II card: D. I am really impressed with my young self that this entire operation even worked back in the day when I had literally zero experience with PC hardware. But everybody has to start somewhere: D.

Great video, thanks. I'm the proud owner of a 760ED from around 1996, but I prefer to use the ThinkPad A31 for retro gaming. The Compaq Presario 1800XL is also one hell of a machine. Do you have a favorite desktop machine? For me It's my IBM NetVista, still running as it did on day 1. Very interesting content, a joy to watch.

I love it when your videos are around three quarters of an hour. Once again my game that has been updated to HTML5 from Flash Player requires me to wait for about another 38 minutes to wait and I am about 5 minutes in. we old guys are addicted to Farm Town. And not just because older women are too.

The Real Joke is that they used the word -Affordable- about a Bazillion Times to continue the Hypnosis that you were obviously under to buy this for such an Outrageous Price in the fist place! You were basicly agreeing with a Thief in a Suit that he could Steal Your Money! Haha!

I was cleaning windows for a top Kodak company big wig, he gave me this laptop and it-s the case because he knew I liked computers, like a complete dumb guy I didn-t keep it! It had that cool fish screen saver on it, not sure it was factory like that or he added it later.

Back in the day me and my friends used to troll each other by loading up our Simcity 2000 maps and activating tons of fires and disasters, saving and then logging out.
The look on our faces when we next went to play and our games were anarchy -
