It should be noted that 1. 3MP is actually a pretty respectable resolution for on-screen viewing if you don't crop too much. I mean a 1080p HD display needs about 2. 07 MP to create a full HD image, but 1. 3MP should be enough to create a 720p image and have some room for cropping. With modern cameras having 20+ MP we don't realize just how little resolution you really need for 1080p displays. 4k obviously needs 8. 33 MP but even so, most P&S cameras from even 10 years ago have plenty of resolution (assuming no cropping) for 4k displays. Of course picture quality is another story.
I will say the video is NOT very good (probably likely due to the processing power of the PDA itself, not so much the camera probably) I mean I've seen security cameras that can do a better job than that but given the age of the HP PDA and the camera, I guess I've seen worse too. The pictures are not bad though for a 1. 3MP camera of the time.

Thanks for the video. I don't know if there is an affordable PDA, with a built in digital camera, contacts, calendar, appointment reminder, GPS navigation using 2021 maps. I don't want Bluetooth, WiFi, cell signal, RFID, wireless technology, or wireless payment, for privacy purposes.
Mp3 music playback would be great. I know there are bar code scanner PDA handhelds. I know there are GPS navigation handhelds with cellphone signal or satellite, but no camera.
I am tempted to convert a smartphone by using metal foil tape to block wireless technology, but then the GPS navigation would not work, unless it could be isolated from the other wireless antennas.
Keeping my personal information personal, in a handheld PDA, with the built in camera and GPS, without other wireless technologies seems like a challenge that maybe you can help me with?

The quality is surprisingly decent considering the specs and when it was released. It's total crap compared to what we have easily available to us now, but I would've thought it was extremely cool at that time. I don't think I had a camera phone until. 2005 maybe? Even then I think it was 1 megapixel and it would exclusively shoot in 640x480 at max. Either way I thought it was amazing having a camera in my pocket that is part of my phone. I could finally take pictures of goofy and weird things I found when out and about to show my friends. And now our phone cameras are far more advanced than top end digital cameras from that time. It's all cool as heck.

I had no idea you were in Asheville! As soon as you showed the photo w/ Crave in it, I realized where you were. Their cupcakes are wonderful. Just was up there last week- even walked by the little houses. Also went to the Moogseum and Moog store- sadly Make Noise was closed. My wife is a trooper- she suffered through it all. Since you-re a synth nut Clint, have you ever gone to Moogfest? I-m hoping to go when it starts back up again- hopefully 2022. I-d love to move to Asheville- I live in Chattanooga now and Asheville was just totally wonderful and everyone was so nice. Seriously thinking about it!

I really don't like Windows mobile 2005 I like Windows ce 4. 20 or it's also called Windows mobile 2003 I have both iPaqs they both look the same except for the one from 2003 says pocket PC above the d-pad and it's more glass and silverand the one from 2003 came with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth but Wi-Fi does not work that well but it works great on Bluetooth tethering with Opera mini
The one from 2003 was my original iPaq I got the one from 2005 from my stepmother's sisterWho is no longer using it and then gave it to me

allright, so you got a camera that plugs into your PDAs SD card slot. and you go out and shoot photos all day long because you can now.
but where do you save all those photos? I imagine your PDA will run out of space pretty quickly because the device itself did not have a lot of internal memory if i remember correctly and using and SD card to expand storage capacity is not an option because the SD slot is used by the camera.
then again, how much space does a 1. 3 mpixel photo really take up?

Headline: -HP Releases 158 New Products, One Secure Digital Digital Camera-
They could have just said, -One Secure Digital Camera- instead of putting digital twice. I think it's implied that a camera that uses secure digital media is probably not analog. Also, they could have just said -SD- since nobody calls it secure digital, but then we'd have clowns saying -SD Digital- like -ATM machine- or -PIN number- I suppose. No way to win. -

Honestly, I expected one pile of mess but the camera in fact is really decent. I like the look and I would have loved it back then. Especially the exposure algorithm is quite nice, often exposing the right subject the right way. I know a lot of cameras that would have ended up with a black silhouette of the Toyota. In low light it's still unusable. And I love that they give you the option of red eye correction with a camera with no flash.

-What happens if you plug it into an SD card reader? - Nothing! -
I discussed this briefly during the section on SDIO, but while the two interfaces look the same, SD interfaces do _not_ accept SDIO peripherals. Unless you've got a device built to support SDIO things then it won't work. Plugging the HP Mobile Camera into an SD card reader results in a whole lot of nothing, it won't even recognize that there's anything inserted: )

I am starting to get to a point, as a photographing enthousiast, realising that certain old-tech camera's makes great ambience pictures, thanks to the filters, CMOS/CCD. The grain is wonderful on these pictures. Never knew I wanted certain aesthetics back from this era of photography. remarkable. Did you post process these images around 15: 00? Or raw product?
