I had a comment here I tried to edit (spelling error, and it disappeared. Trying again, a bit differently this time.
Are there any Savers stores in your area Or pawn shops There is one about 40 minutes away from me, and their electronics section is just as cluttered as your Goodwill stores are. Lots of old unwanted junk like iPod docks and landline phones, but a good selection of LCD monitors and TVs that change often. I got my current LG TV from there since my old one died over Christmas. The pawn shop suggestion is just an idea as I'm curious how they are down there compared to South Dakota. Here, they tend to overprice a lot of things, especially video games if they are highly sought after from Nintendo, Sega, etc.
Behind the Logitech keyboard you found at the first Goodwill is a little micro-stereo from DigiTech, an otherwise bargain basement electronics brand. It looks like it has a cassette player that's removable for portable use. I had a clock radio like that in the late 90s, but the cassette unit died after a couple months use.
I also noticed that Hifi stack at the first Goodwill looks like it's branded Panasonic. They are generally seen as a good brand back in the 90s and maybe 2000s for their TVs and stereo systems. Did they make genuinely bad Hifi stacks at one point I admit, it does look like one of those Hifi stacks from cheaper brands like GPX or Lennox Sound, which don't pass the test of time at all.

2nd & Charles can be pretty neat, but they really screw you on their buy offers. I understand maintaining a decent profit margin, but the way they do things, they might as well spit in your face and then steal your stuff from you.
Funko Pops are like an R. L. Stine monster waiting for their moment to become lethal. They've infiltrated every home, captured big parts of the culture, and they've become a cornerstone of some poorly conceived small businesses. The next phase is when they unleash their true evil, in whatever form that will take.

We have a 2nd at Charles store in my state and I always take an opportunity to go in whenever I go into town. Especially the vinyls since I pick up allot of rare Norway black metal bands I never had seen or heard about but as for the cds it’s hide or miss with it I had to spend awhile looking into every cds finding classic og deathcore/death metal bands. Video games it’s kinda the same you never know what you can expect back then like around 2012 is where I found a ton a ton of good ps2 games I should’ve pick up.

Clint, you are the greatest thrift find of all. Unfortunately I don't think things are going to get better seeing how Goodwill now has a special site dedicated to making sure they harvest every remotely interesting thing they can before it ever reaches the floors of their retail stores. Anything of value now gets put up on their own custom eBay styled auction site. I think in the long run they are shooting themselves in the foot because they're removing the treasure hunting aspect which drove most of their business.

I still find it entertaining if you only find quircky stuff even it's not usefull and off course is fun to see viewer thrift finds also: ) O and I still think thrift shops are more fun than specialized second hand shop because in thrift shops you can find sometimes stuff that's really cheap because someone of the shop underestimated the value. Typing this on a dead cheap 1080p office monitor I've found in a thrift shop: )

That golf ball thing. when I was about 10 or so, we lived about a mile away from a golf course. There was a creek that ran through it, and the creek emptied into a marshy area. I used to go through there, and find the lost balls. I would clean them up and sell them to golfers for much cheaper than new balls. The course let me do it because I would return all the RANGE balls to them as well.

16: 09 as someone who grew up listening CCM artists like Amy Grant & DC Talk, that moment gives me such nostalgia like mainstream artists does
80s and 90s CCM hit different than mid-2000s and beyond CCM for obvious reason, iykwim
and seeing that amount of CD like in the heyday of record bars is such a joy
glad you go beyond your usual place and see this series getting an update

Up until the last 3-4 years, people were generously donating to thrift stores because the economy was booming and people had money to upgrade and buy new things so they could shed the old. For the last three years, people are broke and keeping their old stuff in desperation, so donations are sparse. Draw your own conclusions about what changed 3 years ago.

Thrifting has changed in recent years, because of stores no longer wanting to sell expensive vintage items on store shelves anymore. My local goodwill has mostly phased out selling vintage physical media like VHS tapes and even video games! But 2nd and Charles in Richmond looks amazing, this is what thrift stores should be like for physical media!

Love to see these! Every time you post an episode, I get this itch to go hit up some used game stores and pawn shops and whatnot. So much cool stuff you can find hiding away in thrift stores. By the way, there's a 2nd & Charles in Greenville SC (believe you've done an episode here) and that'd be a lot closer for you. I always find something cool there.

I live near the original 2nd and Charles (at least I believe it is, it came out when I was in high school in 2010 and it quickly became my favorite store. It's still going strong, ashame that a lot of it looks more like a Books a Million storefront now rather than the 2nd hand stuff but you can definitely still find nifty stuff

I was thinking maybe you could check out your local classifieds the awesome deals you can get amazing sometimes but I have to admit I will never stop going to a Goodwill or any secondhand shop the way society is today I’m surprised there isn’t more oh I forgot this generation is a throwaway society kind of ironic

I used to go through the thrift stores near me for finds like these, but it has become rarer and rarer to find any tech gems these days. Books on the other hand seem abundant. Since I read books to my kids almost every night many of those books were acquired from thrift stores.

Does anyone else think Goodwill Auctions has been siphoning off the more interesting items leaving the stores with just filler, hence there’s less to find these days I’ve been told that they specifically don’t put out Lego in physical stores anymore and only put it online.

Looks like you got my luck when it comes to thrifting. I straight up stopped going to many goodwills because they just don't sell the good stuff in their stores anymore. They sell them on their auction site. I have a ton of luck at Salvation Army stores, though.

Books-a-Million is still very much alive. I buy a lot of stuff from their website because they have really good prices, and with their membership you get even better deals all of the time. I just wish the closest store wasn't about a two hour drive one way.

15: 22 that multi colored album cover without a title would have been an insta buy, that’s the 1981 Brian Eno/David Byrne collab album My Life in the Bush of Ghosts. It’s a reissue but with that cover instead of the one that was on the 81 release.

problem with DVDs is you think you're going to find a bevy of great films that you could go for watching but then you remember that the DVD era was basically the 2000s so it's ten copies of How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and a celebrity fitness video

Another random comment. There's a record store in my town. The owner got tired of scalpers coming in and so he disorganized every single record in the shop. At least wanted to force people to have to browse and find the good stuff. Nothing is labeled.
