As far as hour long scripted dramas go, TV until 1999 with The West wing and most notably The Sopranos (unless were talking cartoons and a couple notable sitcoms) was always super underwhelming; with only one show before that that really hooked me (BTVS in 97'. Comic books and video games were my addictions during the 90's (still are. 2000's is when TV started to really start pumping out good or even great shows (HBO in the 2000's was mint. I will say, as a 14 year old boy I do remember Jennifer love Hewitt showing up on Party of Five, a show I otherwise couldn't have cared less about.
5: 12 Marvel had alternate universes in it's comics well before 1995. Nobody watching Sliders who had ever read a comic (or was a science fiction fan) was like never heard of this concept before. Long before the MCU's multiverse or something like that would be accurate.

I was 12 in 1995 and it was definitely an awesome time. My daughter is 13 now, and though she has it pretty good with all the technology advancements and what not. I feel bad for her that she'll never experience a time like the 90's. My wife and I are the same age, so we like to remember things from our childhood and talk about them with our daughter, but she just kind of glazes over and doesn't get it or care much haha!

I remember when I was a teenager recovering from the 2nd of many failed spinal surgeries I had to get, resulting in being permanently disabled since age 14, I discovered ST: VOYAGER on UPN. I spent all my time watching the reruns & would go to my neighbor's to watch the new eps, as our TV couldn't get it. I also got very into X-FILES shortly after that.

peak of freedom of expression. I remember Mccarthy being absolutly wild on singled out. in a goofy feminine way. everyone was actually pretty conservative socially. progression was slow. and innocence was still normalized. Family was the networks focus. ill say it over and over. 1995 was the peak of American culture.

I'm going to be that annoying nerd and point out that Sliders didn't do multiverse stories before Marvel. Marvel had been doing multiverse stories since the sixties and DC Comics did it before them, characters in Marvel stories have been calling their main timeline Universe 616 since the eighties.

Xena is my favorite TV show of all time. I literally grew up on it. I was 12 when it first aired and 18 when it wrapped. I watched the whole time. My first tattoo was actually of Xena's splitting chakram and Gabrielle's sais from the final season. That show holds so much nostalgia for me.

'95 was the start of the crazy crescendo. The Economy leveled out, and people could just exist for a bit which allowed awesome movies, TV Shows and Music to all mix together in a perfect blend of anarchy and mayhem that was the late 90's. Everything was so random but yet, it also just worked.

So, why are Star Search's 13 seasons astonishing but Road Rules 14 seasons don't get a comment Mad TV lasted surprisingly 14 years, which is just mean. They worked hard. Don't act like they didn't deserve it. Every one of those shows beat Smash Hit Friends and iconic Seinfeld.

I was born 1995 toward the end of the year. Only a few events happened that year but the big one was the OJ Simpson trial. As for the tv shows on that year, I only know a few of them. Sometimes it’s fun to look up what was happening in the world in the year you were born.

TheWB network was my network of all TV networks that existed. Because it spoke to me and my generation at that moment with all of its action, comedy, drama, family and horror. And I miss it every single day. CW can't hold a candle to it. I wish TheWB and UPN never fused.

Should have included the Sept. 4, 1995 debut of WCW Monday Nitro. This kicked off the Monday Night Wars and a boom period for professional wrestling, including very high ratings. Culturally significant and economically important in the television industry.

I remember watching the verdict of OJ in school not knowing what guilty or not guilty meant as a 9yo lol
Had to ask someone at recess why all the teachers were in shock when they all sat together during lunch.
Funny what never leaves a kids brain

Mad TV was always my favorite bc unlike SNL they weren’t afraid to push boundaries and offend. They regularly made jokes about dark and taboo subjects, whereas SNL always felt too tame and safe and corporate bc they wanted to reach a broader audience.

I remember when World Premiere Toons premiered. I actually called in and voted for Dexter's Laboratory. But I'm glad the other Cartoon Cartoons were made into full shows like Johnny Bravo, Powerpuff Girls, Cow & Chicken, and Courage the Cowardly Dog.

The 90s were so fun. Look at kids now they are like robots stuck to their phones and no life whatsoever. We built forts, stayed out until the street lights came on used to climb trees and race down big hills on our bikes skateboards scooters etc

OMG, Sliders! That show was such a gem! I don't recall ever watching Hercules because Xena was far more popular amongst my family and friends (though I also barely watched episodes from beginning to end, I still appreciated its corniness.

Why does this video have two thumbnails One with Xena and the other with O. J. It keeps flickering back and forth every time I refresh the page. Are you just constantly swapping the thumbnail every minute or something

Surprised you didn't mention the debut of WCW Nitro going head to head with the already established WWF Raw leading to the Monday Night War that would skyrocket in ratings for wrestling from 1996 to 1999.

The OJ Simpson trial and the Who a shot Mr. Burns are two of my first pop culture memories.
I remember the high speed chase too. I didn’t understand what was going on because I was so little, lol.
