Deep underground lie stores of once-inaccessible natural gas. Theres a technology, called hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, that can extract this natural gas, potentially powering us for decades to come. So how does fracking work and why is it a source of such heated controversy? Mia Nacamulli explains the ins and outs of fracking. Lesson by Mia Nacamulli, directed by Sharon Colman

There is either enough liquid oil or gas to pump out without fracking to make it economically feasible to drill a well, or there is not. If a well needs to be fracked to make it flow there is really not enough oil or gas accumulated there to make it profitable & what is there is better left there. Then there is not enough pressure for the oil or gas at the bottom of the pipe of the frack job to make it into the pipe to pump out, while the bottom side opens deeper & the top side liquids drip down to the bottom. If it is a large hole full of liquid, then pumping material into the hole falls to the bottom & traps the fluids at the bottom side. So fracking a full hole doesnt benefit anything, but fracking outside of a liquified hole might open another draw point to that hole & spread the level lower & to other places underground. Drilling through a water table can not create a seal with the cement, the bottom side under the water table fills with water & dilutes the mix. Then the frack job can crack the seal around the pipe, and open the Geological spaces between Oil & Gas bodies & the body of underground water if too close to begin with. Contamination of large water tables & underground water supplies makes it not worth drilling at those locations. Then there is the fact that Oil & Gas can not compete in open free markets against better forms of energy, and causes higher cost of living through transportation needs, & destruction & lack of growth of many markets if exclusive policies are made to give Oil & Gas energy supplies an unfair market dominance. Traveling underground energy forces also make stops and transfer energy to multiple drill site locations, to cause earthquakes at those locations, which could later cause larger cracks & sink holes to form at those locations, especially when a hole is empty with cracks all around it.

I cannot understand this obsession with oil and gas.
There are other viable energy sources. Sun and wind and water. Just imagine if we all invest in these alternatives. There will be money to perfect these resources, make them cheaper and above all, less polluting. Here in Denmark, 90% of our electricity is produced by wind mills and solar energy. The US uses 800 billions a year on useless weapons provoking a useless armrace. This money could be invested in alternative non pollution energy. An investment for our future generation with a clean earth as a bonus.

The longterm benefit of fracking is to supply the people of earth with energy, so they can get in their electric or natural-gas cars and drive to their protests. The natural-gas powers forklifts, which carry huge rolls of paper, which protesters need to make signs. Everyone look at the situation more closely. Ask a lot of questions. The answers are staring us right in the face. We are a species of invention and technology. Problem-solvers.

Oklahoma where we have many disposal sites. We have been having many many more earthquakes a year starting in like 201 We had 3 earthquakes happen all within a small 4 square mile patch of land (36. 351482, -97. 356713) this year alone. If you look on the satellite view you will see a large disposal site in this small patch of land.

This video is miss leading in how the casings are set, when the kickoff point is started, and when fracking is done that you feel it at the surface. There are much better videos out there that explain the process in a more factual way.

It would be a nice change to get an Engineer that has designed fracks to explain how fracking works. Hmmm that would kill all the emotion.
